Hello, I am having 225 guests at my wedding next June (2010). Probably 70% will be from out of town. I''m starting early with hotel accomodations for family abroad and in other parts of the country. We''d like to keep almost everyone together but when you start out with room blocks, hotels only allow 20 or 25 rooms initially. And if a good portion of the rooms blocked off are reserved, we get a free bridal suite for the night of the wedding. Do you think 2 hotels would suffice, or is it better to only block off rooms at one hotel? The cost is virtually the same at the two hotels - $119 and 129/night.

Thanks.

If you are going to do 2 hotels, then I would try to find two different price points. We are going to have apprx the same amount of guests, about 80% OOT and we have 2 hotel blocks. One is $149/night, and the other is $95/night.

I would suggest trying to find a hotel that is under $100/night, mainly for family memebers/other guests that plan on coming in a few days early, and don't want to pay $100+ each night.

Ditto Meresal. Different price points is a good idea.

Ditto...you absolutely need more than one hotel with that many guests.

Agree with the others - two hotels sounds great, unless one will cut you an especially great deal, and two different price points is ideal - I still remember one wedding my DH and I ended up not attending (we had just graduated from college) because the hotel was so expensive, we just couldn''t afford it

Like you, Carib, we have a significant number of out of town guests. We have blocked 3 hotels.

- The reception venue $$$$
- High End $$$
- Moderate $

We did this so that people could choose accommodations based on either convenience or price point.

Exactly what we are doing. About 180 guests-also up against the same limit of blocked rooms.

As an aside, I was shocked to learn that the hilton hotel that was blocked for a friends wedding will NOT accept additional guests at the blocked rate.

I find this to be very piss poor customer service. This means that while those who rsvpd their room early will be paying $100+ less than those who didn''t make it into the blocked rooms.

Great info. We''ll go with three hotels. But since my wedding is in a downtown, my price points will end up being $109, $119, $129, with a couple offering complementary breakfast and varying parking prices. They''re all fairly close to the venue (two you can virtually walk there).

Thanks for the feeback.

btw: mayachel, on my website info I intend to put a cutoff date to guarantee special rate. I don''t know if the people had one and didn''t share it with guests. I''m basically telling them that you should book by May 1, 2010 to guarantee special rate.
