Oh boy. I am saving up to reset my stone. I feel guilty about it but the current ring just isn’t what I wanted it to be.
How many times have you reset a piece??

You’re in good company here! How are you thinking of resetting?

It started out as a solitaire and I put sides with it. Now, I really want to put it back into a solitaire. I actually enjoyed the stone a lot more on its own, without any clutter or competition. Oh well. Live and learn.

So far just once. My engagement ring's diamond came from my grandmother's set. But I might reset one if my unmentionables at a later date because the setting it's currently in is wonky and sharp :( Hurts to wear when it spins. but that will probably be a few years down the line.

Only once. For spouse's e-ring that was in a garbage $90 placeholder ring for > 15 years. It was super-comfortable and barely-there and it was busy time in our lives so she was in no hurry to upgrade. But that's the only one that I recall.

I’ve lost count! Many settings and stone upgrades over the years. It’s fun to try different styles, right @nala ? :mrgreen2:

Can you please add another option, and call it 'Don't Ask'? I bought a really nice .85 ct G-VS1stone from Whiteflash years ago that's been set more times that I care to admit. My husband finally took it and got it set in it's forever mount.

For my 1.19ct EC, twice, and it is now in its forever home, in the setting that I had always wanted.

There is a CS ring that is waiting to be reset, to add some feature to the boring side view in the gallery as it is a deep stone.

DK :))

Twice and would've more times if not for knowledge from this site. I always got the itch but never knew why until I got an Ideal Scope. The diamond being reset has a very poor cut quality. I subconsciously thought a new setting would revitalize what turned out to be a lackluster stone.

I'm not saying this is why others reset. It's just my own experience.

I’m embarrassed to say I think have reset my stones waaaay too many tImes:oops:
but if the setting isn’t right it just isn’t right. our tastes and particulars change sometimes over the years. And it’s OKAY! You must be overjoyed and very happy with your pieces when you gaze upon them.

I voted never, but I wanted to come into the comments to clarify that there are several gems I’d like to reset and I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I tend to spend my money on new settings for new gems instead.

I reset my cushion three times. It went into a bangle the second time..and then removed to its forever place in an 18k yellow gold bezel ring. I will never sell that diamond or reset it.
Now I want to reset my emerald cut three stone in my avatar to a solitaire. My husband said I was “silly” because it’s a beautiful setting. It is but I realize I’m not a three stone girl. I would maybe make the side emerald cuts into lever back earrings..The ring would would just plain and simple which is really what I like the best.
