How much time between shower and wedding?

My mom and I were talking tonight about potential dates for a family shower at her house.

My wedding is 9/20/08. My brother (groomsman) and his girlfriend (bridesmaid) are moving back to the U.S. from Europe on 8/19/08. So we''d really like to wait until they are here and have a the shower on 8/23 or 8/24.

But is this too close to the wedding? I think it''s about 4 weeks prior.

A month seems a little close to the wedding date but I don''t actually see anything wrong with that. I''m having 2 showers and they are a week apart. Both are just over a month from my wedding.

Mine was about 2.5 months before the wedding... it felt early when we scheduled it, but those precious pre-wedding weekends fly by! I don''t think a month is too short of a time, as long as you''ve got all your other tasks planned out in advance, so that you''re able to set that day aside without feeling stressed about what else you need to get done that weekend. Organization is key! Take it from someone highly UN-organized.

That sounds like it might be a little tight, but I don''t really see a problem with it. My wedding is Oct 11, but I''m having 2 showers in June (mainly to accommodate family being in the country). I think June -- October might be a bit too early, but it was that, or not have family around!

We''re getting married on July 4th and having a shower on June 22 (or is it the 21st?)

I know it''s close but my schedule is packed and that was really the only date that worked, so there it is.

miraclesrule - you crack me up! ha!

My wedding is on August 2nd and we''re having my shower on May 18th - so about 2 and 1/2 months before the wedding. I would have liked to do it later on, but with TONS of friends and relatives getting married this summer, we had to choose a neutral weekend where it wouldn''t interfere with their plans!

I know, I even crack myself up sometimes.

All i know is...that we can''t have bridal shower on this date, or that date...because there are too many freaking BABY showers. I guess that is what we get for being so late on the wedding train....
