...on a 1 carat...

It doesn''t matter if it is H&A or Good, SI2 or VVS1, D or J... just how much would you spend?

Well, I would be practical and shop for a stone just under the .90 mark, which saves a bit of money and would be around $4-5K.

Well said...unless I had unlimited funds of course. There are a lot of other things to take into consideration besides carat here...

There is a lot of missing information here which is probably why no one wants to vote. It depends on a lot of other factors.

I know nobody's asking me but if I had $6K to spend I'd go for this gorgeous honkin' 1.58 L.

But since your spec range is from D to J, and VVS1 to SI2, I'd take this one, slightly over 1.17 ct. What I am trying to say is that unless you spend around $5-6K, it'll be tough to find a nice 1 ct. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/5204/

But tell us what you are struggling with. You have been given links to several stones, which fit your specs, but you've not said why they weren't the "one" so what you are trying to find? Are you still deciding how much your budget is?

I didn''t vote, because that''s basically the opposite of how my mind works: first I decide my budget, then I hunt for the best possible thing I can find for it. That said, once I chose my budget, I''d probably go out looking for something at the qualitative upper end of the carat range that I preferred. If you know that you want something around the one carat mark (and I would *definitely* go with MC''s suggestion of buying shy of the mark), I''d probably start trying to see what 1 carat stones with top cuts would command, and go from there to decide on the other parameters that were important to me ....

We can''t answer that, I don''t know your budget. There wasn''t enough info given, many missing links so to speak. If you fill in the blanks we can be of better service.

I'm sorry, but the question doesn't really make sense, for the afore mentioned reasons.
Plus, if you're doing this to establish how much *you* should spend, then its a bad idea.
If you're just doing it for fun, well there's not enough info. Shape even? (I'm guessing round..?)
