How to fix my pendant?

My husband gave me this diamond pendant 12 years ago when our son was born. It's a K colored AVC, about 0.8 carats, set in 18k white gold. He had asked the vendor for a milgrain bezel, but I have never been happy with the setting. I should have addressed it 12 years ago, but I was busy with a newborn, and didn't want to hurt my husband's feelings at that time! But it has been sitting mostly unworn for that time because I can't get it to lie right on my neck. I also don't think they did such a great job on the milgraining, but maybe my expectations were too high regarding that.

Is there a way to fix it so that it would lie flat, rather than pointing down? Or do I need a whole new setting? Is there a recommended vendor for such a thing? Thank you in advance!

You could close up the holes where the chain slides through and have a jeweler put a ring on two upper corners close enough to the point where the balance keeps the stone from tucking under. Attach the chain to these links and the flat bottom edge will replace the pointed edge position. It looks to me there is no bale on the back as I view your photo. Even if there is, it can be removed. If you prefer the drop to slide on the chain, just add a wire bale on two corners and slide the chain through.

It isn't a big deal. The millegrain can readily be removed if you prefer a bright polished edge.
