Hi All,

I''ve searched the forum for this topic but found none that will answer my question. So forgive me for starting a new thread.

On a GIA cert plot, how does the pavillion plot relate to the crown plot?

So let''s say that there is a feather at the 4 o''clock position of the pavillion plot close to the girdle. Does that mean that if I look at the diamond face up, the feather is in the 8 o''clock position?

thanks!!

The diamond is flipped over so that 12 o'clock on the crown view becomes 6 o'clock on the pavillion view. 9 and 3 o'clock remain the same.

To answer your question, if the feather is at 4 o'clock pavillion view, it will be at 2 o'clock crown view (but not necessarily plotted).

Inclusions are plottted on the crown diagram, unless they reach the pavillion surface or are visible only through the pavillion, where they would be plotted on the pavillion view. If they reach both surfaces, then they are plotted on both views.

Thank you so much for your answer.

So if the feather inclusion at 4 o''clock in the pavillion view could also be seen at the crown view, then there would be an inclusion mark in the crown view at 2 o''clock. Is that right? If there is no mark in the crown view at 2 o''clock, then I can assume that the feather can only be seen through the pavillion, right?

thanks again!!

Yes.

thanks for the help!!!
