How would you rate this day?

Yesterday morning I was sitting outside with my boyfriend enjoying the beautiful morning. I look over at the driveway, and I notice that the night before someone stole my spare tire from under my SUV.

The chain holding the tire was lowered, and was still resting on the pavement. The thieves messed around… trying to get the driver door open. Luckily they didn’t get in (although my alarm would have gone off… maybe I could’ve caught them). Well, anyway… I am on the phone all morning trying to figure out what to do (trying to replace the spare tire, calling the police… etc). I hear a knock on the door. It is the UPS man… My promise ring finally arrived! My boyfriend and I tear open the box, and it is absolutely gorgeous.

How would you rate this day?

I thought I’d share this story and see how everyone would feel if it happened to them… I am so mad that some idiot stole from me, yet I am so very happy I got my ring. I guess I also needed to vent a little. My friends don’t feel the same way I do about jewelry… (“Oh, you got your ring today, that’s nice. So, tell me what happened to your car!”). I figured if anyone would understand, Pricescope would!

Thanks for all of the information. I didn’t really post specific questions I had… they had already been answered! All I had to do was search.

I'd rate from sucky to AWESOME. It's interesting how life works, isn't it? I wouldn't feel too bad about your spare tire... it was a tire after all and not something that is irreplacable. It if was something dear to your heart, then I would be heartbroken. You have the right to be angry at the thieves..., but don't dwell on it too much and take away time to enjoy your "new arrival".

Let me put it to ya this way. I'd rather have some jerk steal my spare tire, and then receive my ring to make me forget about it, than to have my spare tire and have some jerk steal my ring!!!




It sucks about your tire -I had someone steal parts off my motorcycle, fer cryin' out loud!- BUT, what you'll remember about the day in another few weeks will be the ring and what it means.

Thanks for the replies. I was just curious what other people thought. It makes me mad (I’ve never had anything stolen from me before)… however, after I got the ring I forgot about the tire (except when my friends asked what happened). It seems as though my friends were expecting me to be outraged for the rest of the day. While I was mad, I pushed it out of my mind and kept staring and smiling at the ring. It is very true that some people dwell on the negative things and others look to the positive aspects of life. People thought I didn’t care about my car because I was happy about the ring. I guess I needed to hear something other than negative… here I hear positive comments about the ring and what it represents rather than negative comments about my car.

I always try to look at the bright side of life.

I also believe that life works in very strange ways at times (also known as I believe there is a God).

So it's terrible that some bad people stole your tire. But it's great that something happened to negate the bad day you'd have had.

Of the two, the promise ring is a much longer lasting, and much more happy feeling. That makes it a good day in my book.

I'd rate it as a great day. Being a victem of theft is an awful feeling, but in the long run, a tire doesn't make a difference in life. A promise ring does! Enjoy!
