How would you set this Fancy White?

I hope posting this here is the appropriate area, apologies if not.

I just bought this fancy white diamond, and while I've been dreaming of an all yellow gold solitaire for a while, I'm not sure that would showcase the uniqueness of this stone. There looks to be a hint of yellow to it but I don't have it in person yet.

How would you showcase this beauty? Unique, edgy, eccentric design ideas welcome!

Oh man let me look a know one hold on

.
It is translucent as I would expect of a 'Fancy White', but, is it white ? I must have already confessed to liking FW somewhere or other - but, I only like one kind of setting (gypsy) & couldn't say I have noticed any memorable FW set one way or another as of late ...

What is a 'fancy white' compared to the D, E, F, etc. color scale and FCDs ? Why would a "Fancy White" have color? Is it an older classification such as a "blue-White" diamond? I'm so confused. Can someone please explain what a "Fancy White" is? Thank you.

These are rather typical 'fancy white' -s : WWW - translucent white diamonds ...

I rather love these - along with every other translucent white stone. These diamonds must be the highest priced, rather on the same shelf with colourless 'ice' jadeite (of course I am smiling by now, writing this ! ,-) ). However, others exist - www ... ( IHMO, perhaps comparing with the 'Girasol' is the easiest way to see the Diamond quality in the Fancy Whites !)

I haven't read any comparison with D-F, but tend to think that way: the perfect whiteness of 'Fancy White' is important (else they are Fancy Gray !), and the degree of translucency is also a defining characteristic. I do not know where the grading thresholds are for both colour & clarity in these (likely some article in Gems & Gemmology, that I haven't read), however, I could say that to me, a D-E, I1 with clouds the only clarity characteristic (or at least grade-setting), are not quite far enough from transparent, to get the 'Fancy White' - rather unfortunately for me, since I rather prefer them.

Beyond the colourless range, cloudy diamonds show colour - quite a bit more than the transparent, IHMO, so I wonder how tight the colour range for 'Fancy White' is.

I am still confused. The picture of the diamond above looks milky or cloudy to me (IMHO-I am not in the trade) so the "degree of translucency" you mention in a 'Fancy White' is lost on me. Plus as the poster notes there is a hint of yellow in the stone. I understand what inclusions are and I know what translucency is but what makes "Fancy White" different and separate and apart to have an entirely different classification instead of ranking by color.

I'm not sure if there is any color in the stone, I still don't have it in hand, customs is being a treat.
I do think the color seen in the photo is just reflection of the camera or a wall. I am excited to share some better photos here once it arrives.
Fancy white isn't for everyone I know, but I do think it's beautiful, and am happy to have found this little stone.

.

'Cloudy' and 'translucent' are the same thing to me.

Bookmarking the thread ! I hope you will come back with pictures, of course ... as you say, 'Fancy White'-s have their own club ,-) (possibly a small club, hence every member counts .-) )

a D-E, I1 with clouds the only clarity characteristic (or at least grade-setting), are not quite far enough from transparent, to get the 'Fancy White' [GIA designation]

Am I wrong ?

Why am I asking: just noticed this FW RBC (www) - called 'I1' by Leibish & Co., and 'Fancy White' by the GIA (now that I opened the brief).

You might imagine that I haven't come accross many white GIA I1s with grade-setting clouds (three ...) & they weren't any fun ...
