Hey there! I remember you telling us a while ago that your stepdad wouldn't be able to officiate your wedding in RI b/c he was a JOP from another state. Well, I wanted to just tell you that it's really easy to get a bill passed to allow him to officiate. My best friend's dad is a JOP in CT and he sent an email to the Secretary of State. They said just send an email to the State Rep or Senator in the town you're getting married in. So I sent one, and she asked for some info on me and FI and the officiant, and is in the process of drawing up a bill for us. She said it almost always passes the General Assembly. I just wanted to give you a heads up that the process is nowhere near as difficult as they make it sound.

Bump for Hudson...

Hey Sap,
Thanks for the input. A friend of ours is actually going through it and explained the process to us. I still don''t agree with the cost associated with it. I''d rather pay an officiant (who''s trying to make a living) to do it than pay the state. My step dad also mentioned that he''d rather enjoy the day as spectator than be the Emcee.

Thanks again

Thanks again!

Hudson, I haven''t had to pay anything. What cost have you heard about?

Fi mentioned something about $300-$400 to the state. I''ll get more detils from FI. We haven''t looked intp officiants yet, so I''m not sure how much that will be.
