Friends, need some advice on huggie earrings I want to design with David Klass. When I did my reset last year there were 10 leftover melee diamonds that David has had in his safe since then. I want to repurpose them into a pair of hoops!
Attached are:
1. Pics of a discontinued Whiteflash design that is basically what I want.
2. Two pairs of (cheap) huggies I currently have along a measuring tape. I want the size of these huggies to be somewhere between the two.
3. A visual of my current ring, which is 2.2mm wide and bead set, made with the same melee, held up to my ear so that I could get a sense of relative size.
Questions:
The Whiteflash inspiration pics are kind of bead set, but I feel like my ring’s “rails” are slightly taller. And I kind of like the slight visual width the rails give. Any problems with hoops set as bead set, just like my ring?
For size, by my eyes I’d ask for a diameter around 12-13mm. Am I reading that right? I assume I’d have to ask DK to source a few more melee stones because I don’t think 5 per hoop is enough. The size of the melee is about 0.014ish carats apiece.
White or yellow gold? Sigh. I’m wearing vastly more yellow gold these days but the white metal looks better, IMO.
Anything else I’m missing in terms of what to ask for?
