I am going nuts waiting!

Oh man.... I just discovered this site! My BF and I have been discussing marriage since the summer.... started looking at rings in September. He was thinking engagement in the new year (e.g. March - 2 year anniversary) and I wanted it to happen in September. I wanted to propose actually... but he really didn''t want that... and I understand because men have their things they''ve always pictured about their future too.

So.. at the end of October, we decided on an engagement before Xmas eve. I wish I knew about this site earlier... cause the last 2 months have been crazy hard! We designed a ring together and picked out the stone and everything.... but he just took his sweet ass time making appointments to look at molds and diamonds... and actually just picked up the finished e-ring Thursday of last week.

So now there''s basically just today (Wednesday the 21st), Thursday, and Friday left for the proposal and I''m going nuts!! (and no one else seems to understand) I suppose I knew just based on his laid-back procrastinating personality, that he''d wait for the last minute... but this is just crazy!

I suppose men just get a date in their heads that they want to propose... and just stick to it even though their GFs are making themselves sick being so anxious... I seriously can''t even concentrate at work!

Oh... and my friend (who''s been dating her boyfriend for like 6-8 months) got engaged this past Saturday (she asked her boyfriend to wait until after my boyfriend proposed to me since we''re really close friends and she knows that I''ve been waiting months for this... they just started talking 2 weeks ago... but apparently he didn''t want to wait)

Have I seriously gone nuts to be getting so anxious about this? How can he wait so damn long? geez

It''s easy. You know you both want to become engaged. He picked up the finished ring last week. He told you he''d propose before Christmas. And finally, he has four evenings left to do it.

My advice? Get a manicure and enjoy - you only get to experience this anticipation once in your life. Indulge it.

I envy your position - you KNOW when it''s coming. The anticipation must be incredible. Every day I''d be waking up in time to make sure my hair was done nice, that I''m wearing a cute outfit, my nails are even, my perfume is still lasting. But if it didn''t happen that night, I''d have to go through the whole routine again the next morning.

After reading so many proposal stories - try (even though it''s near impossible) to listen and remember what he says right before the big proposal. Most girls say "He said a bunch of sweet things neither of us remember." I think it''s hard to hear when the inner voice is screaming "OMG he''s doing it right now!"

Sometimes I wish it were more of a big surprise (the big fantasy we all have), but I''m glad that we talked about what it meant to get married and design a ring for months beforehand, and that the actual proposal date was a compromise for both of us.

I will definitely try to listen and remember what he says... my friend (while telling me the story of how it happened last night) basically said "And then he said a bunch of things that I don''t even remember and I don''t even really know if he asked me to marry him or not but then he put the ring on and we both were crying". Too funny!

I''ve done the looking nice thing every day... meh.... now I''m in track pants and maybe some deodorant....if he''s lucky. hahaha just joking

I booked a manicure for 3pm this afternoon. Way better than the half-there polish and raging cuticles I have now....

I was in your shoes about a month ago. We had gone looking for rings back in August, decided on one that we both liked...I was convinced he hadn''t done anything since then so I wasn''t expecting a proposal anytime soon. Actually 2 days before he proposed I told him that I didn''t think he had the ring. Little did I know that 2 months prior he had a jeweler make it and it was now sitting in his safe at home. I knew that we would eventually get engaged but I was still very surprised when we did ( I get chills thinking about it). My married friends kept telling me to be patient and that once it happened all my frustrations of if not happening will become ''fond'' memories. Well they were right!!!!

Starset gave good advice...GET A MANICURE!

My nails have looked horrible ever since I got engaged...they are just now starting to look good enough for my ring.

Anyway...congratulations and good luck!

I''m totally impatient too, but I doubt it''ll happen in the next few days. Just b/c I really wanted it to happen last weekend and it didnt and I hate the fact that every day is an opportunity for him to propose and they all keep GOING BY! I''ve given up on hoping for a pre new years proposal.

Now I''m obsessed with finding a wedding band...and we''ll be engaged for about 2 years, when it eventually happens.

Keep yourself busy with the whole Christmas madness, the pre-engagement excitement only happens once in your life, so surround yourself in the anticipation and the happiness! every thing about the actual engagement goes by so fast. I kept telling myself to remember what he said, but what I really, really remember was that the lid of the box flew off, and I saw the ring before I was supposed to. And I remember laughing because it was so cute. As for the asking...a blur...

If it makes you feel better--- My so has had the ring for months (literally --- the finished ring for about 6 months and he hasnt even mentioned when he is going to propose!) I fully agree with getting a manicure and relaxing for a few days!! You are so close so enjoy yourself! Dont forget to post pics when it happens!!

I got my proposal Xmas eve. Here's the story! (I'll post some pics of the beautiful e-ring in the Show me The Ring folder once I get some good ones)

We were getting ready to go to my parents for Xmas eve dinner and, of course, we were late. Brad's a real laid-back procrastinator kind of guy. Me? Not so much! So I'm running around trying to get everything ready and food and drink in bags next to the door... and he's just standing next to the Xmas tree not helping me at all. So I ask him "Hey babe... can you help me out here please? Maybe turn off the Xmas tree lights or gather up my family's presents under the tree" so he starts fiddling with the lights... can't get them off... starts asking about who the presents are for, etc... Obviously he was stalling me, but all I see is somebody who doesn't seem to want to help me get ready!


So I go over to him to see what the matter is and he starts kissing me and telling me he loves me... and keeps telling me he loves me. I'm like "I know babe... I love you too.. but we REALLY need to get going". And then he starts telling me all sorts of beautiful things about his feelings for me and how silly he was for waiting so long to do this... and then he asked me to marry him (through many tears). It was beautiful... and perfect. I can't even describe how happy I am that I get to spend my life with this man.

Thanks everyone! Wouldn''t you know it.... as soon as I get my beautiful e-ring we do not get one sunny day so I can take pictures!!!!! (forecast says maybe Saturday or Sunday) I can''t wait to take pictures! The indoor pics just don''t do it justice. My ring is a custom design setting with a 0.74ct RB, VS2, F colour, very good cut. Hopefully my sparkly new toy won''t get lost in the sea of big rocks in the Show me the Ring section!!
