I don't know how it is where you live, but around here EVERY commercial is some doom and gloom commercial about how this or that politician hates old people and is a liar and a thief and steals money from sick children.....

Can't people just say what changes they want to make and what ideas they stand for?!?

Anyone else as annoyed as I am?

ME. Hate the negative ads, and all the phone calls?? Guessing that skips the do not call list protocol.. I am sooooo done with it....

Unfortunately, the end of the elections will probably not stop the free-floating fear - fear of the vast sea-change that most people can feel, even if they can't put their finger on it. It's scaring the snot out of vast swaths of people, and the fear-mongers are having a heyday with it.

Yes, I'll be glad when they're done....

We are having the second round of presidential election on Sunday. I can't wait until it is over either. The campaigns have been a lot of mud flinging from all sides and little relevant debate. People are acting very irrationally and childishly. Agh!

Omg, YES. Here in Illinois (specifically Chicago),with so many government scandals, corrupt politicians, taxes, etc. it is SO bad. Everyone says they'll somehow change it, but I find that hard to believe. Some of the commercials are soooo bad they are funny!

Last 2 days I have had at least 15 political phone calls. Turned the phone ringer off and upped the volume on the answering machine. Yesterday got about 6 mailings. What a waste of paper too! Can't wait for Nov 2nd to be over.

Kaleigh, yes political calls are allowed under the Do Not Call List.

You don't want political calls? Live in a place where the elections are merely a formality, like here. Everyone knows who is going to win beforehand, so they don't need to spend much money drumming up support on the winning side, and the losing side, well, they pretty much KNOW they're losing.

I'm voting I promise, but I feel it's really a pretty pointless thrash, at least for candidates, although maybe not so much on the state questions...

Where do you live?

Oklahoma...

I had a candidate for state representative knock on my door Wednesday night, introduce herself and say "I'm here for my job interview." I was impressed! She actually took the time to talk WITH people (instead of to them with canned phone calls or partisan commercials). I'm sure you're not surprised to hear that she is the challenger, not the encumbent.

I really like this idea. Good for her :appl:

It actually makes me sad. Both parties have said so many negative things about each other that either way, we're screwed.

Bucks County, SE PA.

ETA: oops I guess you meant this question for Ksinger

Agreed. I think Connecticut is a bit of a swing state this year, so it's been kind of crazy. I'm so sick of the ads!

Well, here in Michigan it's really down and dirty, too. All of the job loss due to the big 3, unemployment is at 13%! I don't really like any of the candidates, so I guess I just have to choose the lesser of 2 evils.

Me too!! I hate both of the candidates for gov. in our state. I will vote for anyone else but them. I wish I could write in!!!

I'm so sick of it too! I went to the Wings game last night and there were a few people standing outside the joe asking me to vote for someone.

Me too! The people who think of these ads are really good at their jobs though... I can hate one candidate and then their counter commercial comes on and bam, they're not evil anymore.

I do however miss the commercial that shows McMahon kicking some guy in the crotch repeatedly, it was hilarious.

The ads here in Palo Alto CA are vicious

Well you can bet your last dollar I'm going to vote because the 'burb I live in is having a vote to allow wine sales in the city. How ridiculous is this, you can buy beer, but no wine, you have to drive a few miles this way or that way. (And I'm just about ready to vote for every challenger and give all the incumbents the boot.)

tomorrow will be a happy day for the Republican Party.

I can't either. They're putting me in a foul mood.

I'm so over it...actually I was over it many yrs ago. Dislike election season for this reason. If I have to see one more negative ad by a particular candidate, I'm going to puke. His ads are so over the top and nasty I want to just slap him for wasting my TV space.

STOP THE MADNESS

I'm also really tired of the bi-partisan bickering... Both sides just want control so the other side can't have it. Neither party seems to accomplish anything. I'm so sick of it.

Doesn't matter to me- I didn't really care for any of them. Like I said, I never vote partisan because I don't believe in all of the ideals of either party. It seems that all they do is point fingers at each other and spend their time over turning what the other party has pout in place instead of focusing on working together to make positive changes. I hate the whole bi-partisan system in this country.
