Planning for a wedding that is!!
Since we have not set a date, we have plenty of time. BUT I don''t even know what to CONSIDER in turns of what to begin! I would like to have the wedding in San Diego, but his family are all in Boston. I know they will accommodate my request but I am just not sure which is better....

Also, I would like to look HOT at my wedding so I want to lose about 15-20 pounds first. Does that mean I should postpone shopping for a dress until after I reached a certain goal?

How did you guys do it? Please share some tips as I am as confused as can be!! Thanks!!!

zhuzhu start off easy.

Make a wish list of people you would like to invite and have to invite (family etc.)

Think about what type of wedding you want, what tone you would like to set. do you want a formal event or something low key? Who would you like to be in your wedding party.

Go to a book store and find a wedding planning book, buy wedding magazines to get ideas.

In terms of the dress, it is never to soon to start looking. Just to buy anything until you are ready. Many of the ladies here can tell you that finding the right dress is on easy take this time to help you find what you don''t like. For some it could be beading or lace or hoops or petticoats. Eliminate what you don''t like to help you figure out what you would like.

BTW, congratulations on your engagement.

Know what helped me? Start by thinking of 5 things that you want to have at your wedding, things that are very important to you. So something like:

1) I want granny to be there!
2) I want the setting to be green
3) I want lots of dancing
4) I want ice cream
5) I want to look hot

Then you can start to visualize different ways of incorporating all those elements most important to you, and ruling out things too.

Having a checklist helps too. I tore one out of a rejected "Modern Bride" mag in the gym when I first got engaged, and it has been really helpful. I think you can find them on line too.
