I am a month away from my wedding and I hate my dress. I just think it''s generic and not really me. It''s the Amsale Serena. It''s too late to do anything about it and not that I could anyway considering how much the dress cost. Has anyone or is anyone feeling this way?

Here''s my dress

Slap a brooch on the waistline of that sucker and, voila, "unique"!

Sorry you''re feeling that way. Its an illusion. The manifestation of all your other anxiety around the wedding.

You''re worried YOU won''t be "you" anymore after the wedding -- but its easier to blame the dress and plot "emergency dress shopping DRAMZ!" than deal with the real, serious, emotions surrounding marriage.

Think about it, will ya?

** the above interpretation is MY OPINION only. Your results may vary.

i don''t think your dress is generic at all! it''s beautiful. i love the modern cut. it''s feminine without being over the top girly. but that''s just my opinion. what are you feeling about it that makes you feel it''s not you?

if you are just looking to jazz it up a bit (not that you need to), i think deco''s brooch idea is a good one.

This! I think the dress is lovely but I agree if you''re having these feelings, find some way to dress it up. What about a sash? Check out Etsy.com they have TONS of fun stuff to jazz up your dress!

Or even stitch on a thin crystal blingy belt. Your dress salon will have ideas and possible samples for belts/brooches. Your dress is gorgeous, there is nothing generic about it.

STW I think this dress is beautiful! It is simple, but I agree with Marlie that the cut gives it a modern look that''s far from generic. Sorry you''re feeling this way! it''s not too late to bling it up!

wise advice deco!

I agree with everyone else. try looking into sashes. I think your dress is beautiful!

Your dress is gorg, and calling for a kickass necklace to go with it.

I''m sorry you''re feeling this way.

Your dress is amazing. I feel it IS unique due to its cut and style. I love the fact that it isn''t overloaded with bling. It is within the true Amsale style...elegant, fashion forward, yet timeless.

A crystal belt or broach would change it up a bit, if you feel the dress needs something. Your accessories can do a lot too. More than anything, YOU will make the dress come alive.

So sorry you''re feeling this way so close to your wedding, STW. It''s a very attractive dress. Do you remeber what it was about the dress that made you fall in love with in the first place?

What about ordering something =tags&includes[]=title:2o8h065d]like this from etsy. I''ve seen lots of giant blooms and little shrug jackets and vintage rhinestone brooches etc. There''s an accessory out there that would make the dress feel a little more "you". As only "you" would wear it.

Wow!

First of all, I don''t think its generic at all. I do believe once you put on your jewelry plus the tiara and/or veil (if you wear these), you''ll look fab!!! I love the shiny materials of your dress.

STW- Sorry you are feeling this way so close to your wedding. But keep in mind, there was something that made you try this dress on, pick it, buy it, bring it home, and hang on to it for X amount of months before feeling this way. It is probably just pre-wedding stress that causes you to doubt your decisions, or thinking you could have done something different (happens to everyone....I should have done these flowers, this dress would have been better, it would be nicer if i did this...). Try not to obsess. (I picked out my own engagement ring and still doubted it after the fact! lol

However, coming from someone who will buy a pair of shoes, and make an outfit around the shoes (rather than buy an outfit and find shoes to go with it)....accessories can make a WORLD of difference. If you feel its to generic or plain, just jazz it up with a jeweled belt, or colored sash, or a brooch. You would be surprised how much of a difference it will make. Depending on what look you are going for, would depend on what to add (you say generic....so if you want more modern...do blue shoes, maybe a colored sash, massive chunky necklace, etc). If you want more vintage, then birdcage veil, pretty hair piece, or brooch, etc). The possibilities are endless...and you will be anything but generic!

Like everyone said it's def not generic. However if you don't like it, then it doesn't matter what we say. My advice would be tailor it so that you feel better about it (maybe make it a bit more snug in the hips) and then add some beading to make it more wow.

Don't worry, you can make this dress work! Everyone has doubt, it's normal. Those shows on TLC make it seem like you are supposed to have some epiphany when you've found "the" dress.

I think the dress is very lovely. I agree with others that you could dress it up with accessories.

I rarely comment in this section, but I had to after reading your thread. Your dress is so not generic, it is amazing. It is like a canvas, you can be modern, elegant and feminine with a minimilist look (lovely) OR you have an amazing range of options for inidviudalising this dress, from broaches, belts, jewellery from modern to vintage to girly to whimsical. I just love how versitile this dress is - it is truly one of the few bridal dresses that with 10 different accessories you would get 10 different looks.

I think you have normal everyday wedding jitters....... look at your dress, look at your overall theme/colours and decide if you want to jazz it up or keep it simple and refined. both are great. but the options for you truly are endless.

an amazing dress.

good luck and show us wedding photos - pretty please

just wanted to say please ignore my spelling mistakes (blush), but I am in a rush, and wanted to quickly post.

I kinda felt like this too. I really wanted a trumpet style but couldn''t find anything and I ended up with the Pronovias Daifa. I wondered if it was really unique or too cookie-cutter bride. I jazzed it up with some fab accessories that were totally me (from tejani.com) and in the end I would not have changed anything. I LOVED my dress, I love looking at my pictures because I really loved how beautiful I looked in it. AND I got SO MANY compliments.

I think your dress is GORGEOUS, and I would look into brooches or jewelry. Tejani has some fabulous brooches too I believe.

STW -- there is nothing generic about that dress! It''s a fresh, fashion-forward design. Your guests will be telling their friends about it, and I''m sure your fiance will love how you look in it. And... you''re going to look waaay better than the model, because her dress doesn''t fit her correctly. It also looks like a dress that will allow you to move freely and boogie the night away!

I don''t think you ever told us about your veil or accessories... spill, girl!

Um that dress is AMAZING. I absolutely love it! I disagree that it needs a brooch or sash-it''s perfect just how it is! And if I recall correctly, there''s an awesome bow thing on the back. I had an Amsale dress and it was gorgeous if I do say so myself! It fit like a glove and the fabric was similar to yours and just looked awesome all night.

I would wear a blingy vintage rhinestone dangle earring, a simple veil and amazing shoe with that dress. A blingy rhinestone bracelet would be nice too.

I agree with whoever said you''re probably just projecting your overall wedding anxiety onto the dress. It''s easy to find one thing to obsess about and it sounds like that''s definitely the case here.

I think your dress is gorgeous! With some lovely jewellery you''ll look fab. I adore the cut of it.

LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE it. I think it''s beautiful & both modern and traditional at once.

Thanks everyone I think you are right - I''m just picking on my poor dress. I loved this dress from the first time I saw it in a magazine.

I think you are right in saying that the jewelry will make it me. I think I will go the broach route. Perhaps on the bow that thing2of2 mentioned.
