I don't want to get too excited, but I have great news!

I am SO excited!! I'll start with the smaller news. I went to the orthodontist today and got my removal date!! I wasn't expecting to get this news today, so I am beyond thrilled. I have to go next week to get fitted for my permanent retainers, and then the following Thursday they come off!! The weirdest thing is that the day I go to pick up my removable retainers is August 3rd, which will be exactly 18 months from when I got them on, and that was my estimated treatment time, haha.

Potentially, the most exciting news is that we think we've found our diamond!! We had been looking at another one, but I wasn't sure about it. Fate intervened and someone else bought it this past Friday. So we took a closer look at another stone and we really feel like it's the one! Our song came on the radio at the same moment I told him I thought it was the one...aw. The only kind of crappy thing about it is that it was graded back in 05, so it doesn't have a cut grade. That means they have to send it back to GIA before we know what the cut grade and the pavilion and crown angles are. BUT we feel really good about it since we've seen it through IS and an H&A viewer. It looks amazing in all lighting too!

It's kind of funny though. Last week I told BF that I didn't want the other stone because I didn't feel completely right about it and he actually got mad at me! He has gotten so excited about getting engaged and buying the ring and he couldn't believe that I was the one slamming on the brakes, you know? It's so funny how things work out. The diamond should be getting back to the jeweler around the time I get my braces off, so it's all up to BF after that.

I just can't believe how everything is falling into place. And it's really fun to see BF get so excited about the ring/ring process.

That's cute your bf is so anxious to be engaged. That's a good news. That means he'll probably propose right after or soon after he bought the ring. HURRAY for you!!!

I was so picky with my ring/diamond before I was thinking I'll NEVER be engaged. My bf is like we'll find the right one and kept saying "it's not meant to be yours." (I always say stuff like that) He wasn't too anxious like your bf.

Thanks guys! It's fun to share this news with you all since we're keeping all the ring shopping/info under our hats. The only person who knows everything going on right now is his mom. He wants my parents to be at least a little surprised when he asks for their permission! I had been mentioning it to my mom when we'd go to the jeweler, but after this weekend, we're keeping pretty much all of it to ourselves. And we already know his mom is good at keeping secrets, so it's okay that she knows.

As for the setting, we're going with a 2mm platinum band, 6 prong Tiffany style. I was pleasantly surprised to find a head exactly like we want. I had seen the Stuller Solstice, but the prongs were a little thick for my taste. We were able to find one that looks much more delicate, and I'm SO excited about it! I was even more excited that our SA found one for us to see in person. I never thought I'd see the day that BF would be so in love with a ring!

Getting my braces off is really just the cherry on top, ya know? I can't wait to see what they look like haha!

Congrats! Don't you just love it when everything finally seems to be falling into place? I think that all of this is a very good sign that you won't be a LIW much longer! Congrats on getting your braces off and your ring sounds beautiful! I love simple solitaires too!

We got the info back on the stone today, and I'm pretty sure he's buying it tomorrow! We thought they'd have to send it back to GIA to do it, but it turned out GIA already had the info for whatever reason.

I really think that this stone is a perfect example of needing to see stones before you buy them. It's EX, VG, VG and scores a measly 4.2 on the HCA. If I posted the info on Rocky Talky they'd probably advise against getting it. Believe me, I scrutinized that stone with an Idealscope and H&A viewer. Beats me why symmetry isn't excellent, it looked awesome to me. Same with the lousy HCA score. IS looked awesome. One of the jewelers even took us in the back to look at it under fluorescent lights, and we've seen it outside too. And of course, extensively in the showroom. It looks great everywhere. I think the HCA doesn't like it because it could be on the deeper side, which could result in some leakage, but that would show with the IS.

It's weird because we were convinced it'd take a week or 2 to send it back to GIA and find everything out. I can't wait to see everything all put together. I stink at visualizing everything.
