I couldn''t believe how much affordable stuff they actually had. We got stemware, glasses, plastic cups for everyday, and china...for my disgust with Tiffany, I cannot freaking believe I registered for the Audrey pattern, which is white and TIFFANY BLUE. Gag! But he actually liked it, and that NEVER happens. I think I scanned nearly EVERY vase there, we have none.

It was really awesome though, food, champagne punch, music, and we got free toasting flutes and 2 free paring knives (that I checked out on the site and they are NOT CHEAP!) and some thank you notes. It was well worth waking up so early for. :)

I find it funny that we registered for furniture...like anyone is going to buy a 5500 leather sofa for us.

I really wish I had seen these events when I was planning my wedding...they sound so fun! I was just NOT with the program. One of the places we registered at was Pottery Barn, and we registered for some furniture too (cedar chest, nightstands, etc). Nobody bought that stuff for us, but after returning duplicates and some of the 300 vases we registered for (because we had none either...but like, 20 different ones were too many!

) we ended up being able to buy ourselves that stuff with the credit!

I love Crate and Barrel. They have such nice stuff. Glad you had fun!

I remember seeing the ad for that when we were engaged but it was WAY too earlyto get up and I already had my registries setup about 9 months before the wedding (so that people could buy us things off of it for Christmas, Birthdays etc...advice courtesy of my already-married matron-of-honor)...hehee.

We got the platinum line china from C&B..I love it because it's very simple and can be dressed up or down and also used for Holiday with burgundies and summer with blues etc...I didn't want any color in the china because that limited the options for me. I already have another set of china for 'somewhat formal' gatherings from C&B, the orchid collection which I think they may have discontinued, so the platinum is for really formal stuff! Which we almost never do!

Our registries were C&B, PB and WS and my mom was appalled I wasn't doing the old standby Macys! What for when I have 3 other places that only do home? hehe.

I keep getting crap from my mom about not including a "lower priced" option. I am not inflicting the hell of a return or exchange at Target on myself. So, as much as love the place, no thanks. I am sure Ill still get some gift cards but I do NOT want all of my stuff from there.

I have some plain white stuff I registered for at BB&B to be sure I had something that worked year round. :) Still casual and still formal all at once.

Hi Ame:

Sounds like you''ve had a great time registering. I have a question for you, who is doing your cake? McArthurs? I was wondering about them, I hear a lot of ppl going there. I hope your home is coming along, im getting (trying to get anyhow) geared up for my LAST project on my house for the spring/summer/fall. I hope your getting settled into your new home! Its exciting and draining at the same time.

Take Care,

Lori

HI!

House is going good. We FINALLY figured out the stupid garbage disposal. It was an easy and ridiculously funny fix. One of the wire pairs in the thing got knocked loose when I dropped it on myself. I guess it hit me hard enough...but we fixed it, well...he did. Then we installed the timer for the front light so I can relax about that, and soon we;ll get the painting finished in the kitchen. One wall is just not good enough for me ;)

My cake is through McArthur''s but not by choice. That''s the only baker that Orlandos lets you work through. I was FURIOUS because Id rather pay 500 bucks for it and get what I wanted. Im still mad that it''s at Orlando''s to begin with. I was all set for Bevo, we paid the deposit and my mom vetoed it. Im still bitter :;):

My first choice was Federhofers because I live right there and because my mom''s friend makes really badass cake there. She''s a federhofer ;) If not them Id have used Lubeleys or Sugaree. All it is is a chocolate 5 tier cake with chocolate ganache filling and icing and our monogram "carved" into the icing. At least I get it really cheap since Im confined.

I guess it makes no difference... we are getting a chocolate fountain. For me alone and I don''t share.

heh.

Good luck with your last project. Im starting to make a list of those now. Im really eager to paint the rooms, rip up carpet in the bedrooms and start the bathroom, We were considering reupholstering the old chaise his parents gave us, and maybe the couch too.

Like any of this is going to happen.

ame,
Sounds like you had a blast at Crate and Barrel. That''s sooo funny about the tiffany blue china, you and Tiffany are like oil and water, but I think it sounds very pretty. The fact that FI likes it is half the battle. Good luck with all your home improvements. You aren''t doing it all by yourselves are you? If so you are one brave woman!!

Those we will be doing together and probably with my dad and or my cousin (in construction) helping. I think the bathroom is going to require one or the other. We wanna make sure we don''t have problems with code.

The finishing of the attic, and subsequent redo of the kitchen/living room/dining room that will be required after that, that we will be doing with a lot of help from my cousin, dad and brother. I think if it comes down to it we''ll hire someone. Ryan and I discussed having Home Depot do our kitchen since its really not as bad pricewise as we though. 2500 is not as bad as we figured it would be. It''s the removal of walls that will get us.

I still keep laughing at the china pattern. I think it''s Earthenware so it''s not chi chi high end...still hilarious. Its a good looking pattern. Its tiffany blue on the outside ring with a think ring of brown and then white.

I hired most all of the work out. My DH is no handy man whatsoever. My Dad and Mom would do all they could on their visits(they live in another state). The rest I was lucky to ask my neighbor and her brother and other relatives are painters and do crown molding and chair rail. I will never paint again. I''m not good at it and ruined some trim. My DH thought he could paint the bonus room and just say its going to cost me a fortune to fix, so I may do wainscoating all over. Its been expensive and stressful, so if it doesn''t wrap up soon I''m thinking maintenance free condo. The fun thing was wallpaper actually! Two 65+old ladies did it in a few days and I missed them when they were gone, they were fun and they would HAVE to watch The View every day and hearing them talk was a stress relief. My dog would get under their table as they cut paper and they even brought their poodle, which was a larger one. Very pretty dog. Oh well this is what happens when your one year project turns into 5+yrs. October will be 6 and its gonna be done! Ame, I hope it goes well. I know when the county inspectors came they were rude but you know my house was up to code and I didn''t appreciate all the comments they made. The previous owner had drywalled and finished some of the basement and they didn''t get a permit I guess. Anyhow they tried to say we had done it and my DH was like, have you seen the rest of the house unfinished and you think this basement would get touched before the upstairs and mid level? What a joke. My taxes are going to skyrocket since my new neighbor built a very expensive house next to me.........

Ame-

China in my house was a waste. I have the Old Country Rose collection by Royal Dalton. The whole collection collects dust and gets washed every year and put back in the China cabinet. No one ever eats off of it or uses the glasses. Get practical stuff unless you live on Conway. ha . Also, the whole dining set and china cabinet was a waste. It is never used and takes up room and a lot of glass to dust.

I was thinking of a little side console to store it in maybe. Im going to make myself use it. I told Ryan we will eat all of our meals on it for a few months. haha.

I wish I lived on Conway sometimes. There are some really neat houses there.

well I hope you guys finish AHEAD of schedule.
