Ohhhh Surfgirl, where aaarrre you? I hope you read this...

I have a dress...a real wedding dress!! Not a "oh this''ll do" type of dress but an honest to goodness wedding GOWN. I still can''t believe it.

The bad news is that I can''t find it online anywhere. It''s an Essence dress but I''ve been told the dress isn''t online.

If you read my thread about having better luck the second time I went shopping, I described the dress there. I got it at a dress shop in NH, and I have to say the girl who helped me is wonderful. I can''t say enough great things.

Okay, so my mom and I went to this shop so I could show her this dress and two others I tried on previously. We both decided it was the one as soon as I put it on. I really wanted to be able to take pictures to show you girls but my camera phone is awful.

The dress is ivory with a lace overlay. It''s sleeveless, A-line, and it has a very short train. They''re custom making it for me with hollow to hem measurements. It has a very simple thin champagne colored sash (ribbon?) around the middle, but not where your waist is. I think it''s empire waisted but I''m not sure. See, on me, everything looks off since everything I try on is waaayyyy too long and not proportionate to me. Close to the bottom of the dress is the same colored sash/ribbon, only wider. At the very bottom is more of the lace overlay. Under that is the underneath part of the dress. The very bottom of the underneath part is champagne colored as well. This sticks out a little so you can see it. I have no idea if this is making sense but I''m so excited and it''s hard to describe.

I also got a veil, which my mom and the girl who helped us picked out, since I didn''t really care too much about that. It''s double layered and it has the slightest detailing on the edges. We also ordered a wrap/shawl in the same ivory (or was it champagne) color. We bought a necklace and earrings because they looked really nice with the dress. We also bought a petticoat because, well, I was told I needed one.

My mom and I are very similar. We rely on sales people to just tell us what we need and then we get it. Otherwise, we (or I) would be shopping forever without actually buying anything.

So, I wish I could have shown you all three that I was considering and have you give input as to which one looks best. Sorry I couldn''t do that. I do think this dress has enough structure to it that it looks very nice and flattering. I wish you could see it!

Sorry to ramble...

I''m just so happy for you...and I cant wait to see photos! Get a camera STAT! That''s an order missy! It sounds like they hooked you up with all the fix''ins. That''s terrific. Isn''t it nice when you get a really great saleswoman to help you sort through it all? Cant WAIT to see this dress.

Zoe,

I''m so happy for you! The dress sounds absolutely fabulous and I can''t wait to see pictures; I''m sure you look stunning in it!

Yah Zoe! I wanted to add that I love your avatar; sweet kitty!!!

Thanks everyone!! I''m still in shock that I am not the proud owner of a wedding dress. I''ve been scanning the internet, trying to find it and the salesgirl may be right, it''s nowhere to be found. That surprises me though -- it''s not very unique or anything. I''m sure I must have seen it (or others just like it) online somewhere. I''ll keep looking.

I''m actually very nervous too. It wasn''t as long of a process as I was thinking it would be. One minute I was trying on veils to see how they looked with the dress, and the next minute, my mom had whipped her credit card out to put down a deposit on everything (petticoat, jewelry, etc.). It all happened so fast. Yes, I could have kept looking and gone to so many other shops, but who knows when I would have decided. Then I thought, "you know what, I found one I like, it looks great, it feels great, why keep looking?"

I will admit that the veil and the headpiece felt silly. The sales girl also put a fake hair scrunchy on my half-pulled up hair, and that felt silly too. It looked good, especially with the veil and the headpiece, but it''s not ME. I''ve never been one to dream about my wedding dress or my wedding when I was little. All of this is so new to me. It looked good though and I''m excited.

Thanks Skippy! That''s Henry, one of the cutest kitties ever.

I''m so happy for you! It sounds gorgeous, and I hope you can get some pictures for us SOMEHOW! I''m not wearing a veil but when I was at M&T they had me try one on, and they did the fake hair scrunchy thing for me too. It was weird!

BTW, are you sure it''s not on the Essense site? I only ask because of the wonky spelling they use (instead of "essence")-Essense of Australia

Congrats on finding a dress Zoe!!! It sounds beautiful!

Yeah, I''m sure. When I found out it was an Essence (or Essense) dress, I checked their website. Nope, it''s not there. The shop names their dresses with girls'' names, and mine might be Cindy, I''m not sure. Not that that really means anything. I really don''t understand all the super secrecy...it''s a dress for goodness sake.

Thank you though for thinking of it.

Congrats Zoe!!!! That is so so exciting! Now since we saw ering pictures, we know you have a digital!!!! So get your butt back to the store and take pics for us! Can''t wait to see it!

Congrats Zoe!! It must be a relief to have that over!

Can I ask what may seem like a stupid question? I hear lots of people talking about hollow to hem- what does that mean?

And hurry up and get some pics! We''re dying to see!

YAY YAY YAY Zoe! I can''t wait for pics! I''m SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Happy for you! Need pics soon!!

Hem to Hallow. THe hallow is where your collar bones meet (there is a hallow there at the base of your throat) hem is where you want the dress to fall. So if you know what heel length you are wearing say... 3 inches they would measure in three inch heels-- or where you want the hem to stop.

ZOE! Where are the dress photos woman?!? I''m jones''in for a photo...
