and I did not visit GemFix!!! What the heck was I thinking! I have been busy over in the pearl forum and not focusing on CS. Ugh!!!

Has anyone been there in person? Is it worth going?

I feel so stupid. Seriously, I have been collecting CS for years, and I go to LA to buy pearls?! (I was in SoCal for something else.) What is wrong with me? I've never traveled to a CS vendor in my life, and Intergem does not count.

I've been to GemFix a couple of times - they're on the 6th floor of the San Diego Jewelry Exchange Building downtown and I think you do need to make an appointment ahead of time.

Each time I went, I had an appointment, and I brought a list of the stones from the website I was interested in - Andrew would pull out the relevant gemstone trays and while we both looked for the specific stone(s) on my list, I'd also pull out any in the tray that caught my eye.

Andrew is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and I never felt any pressure to purchase (other than self-inflicted LOL).

Each time I go to GemFix, I leave wishing I had more time in my schedule so I could just browse a bit... there's so many beautiful stones to catch the eye!

I too hope to visit Gemfix one day. I really want to see their stones in person as their pics are so amazing. I need to see for myself the differences. Hopefully you'll get the chance to visit SoCal again one day and make the trip!

I was hoping others would chime in and say how great it is to shop at Gemfix. I am planning to make the 150 mile trip there sometime soon and I would love to hear that it is worth the trip.
