While I was getting my hair trimmed a few days ago,, my very young and adorable stylist, Miss B, mentioned that she was engaged. She showed me her ring, which was about 5 ct , perhaps larger , RB in a lovely setting. Because it was so large amd she is so young, I had to ask if it was moissanite or CZ. It is a lab diamond, picked out by her fiancé. He wants to upgrade later on ! Well, that’s for another discussion and I digress.

Miss B said that her diamond needed cleaning and she had heard that toothpaste was a good cleaner for diamonds:eek2:!!! No, no, a thousand times no, I pleaded! Soak it over night in Dawn, scrub with a baby tooth brush and dry with a soft cloth. Also, don’t wear it when using bleach or any of the chemicals you might use at the salon, or when doing housework, etc. .She knew nothing about caring for jewelry. I think I saved that diamond’s life. Hope she enjoys wearing it for many years to come. She also asked me for advise on marriage, since I’ve been married for soooo long. , but that’s for another thread;)2

Yay! Another diamond saved!
The lack of knowledge that diamond owners possess is mind boggling.

A lady I once knew who had a lovely 3.50 MRB told me that she cleaned it with .......baking soda:(
I tried to educate her, and I told her that she was also scratching gold setting.
I'm sure she didn't listen to me.
