I mean…

Fantastic. They did the right thing.

Wondering about something now. Say the current owner of those pieces did not want any part of it all. What should they do? Donate the pieces or sell them and donate 100% of the proceeds, I'd guess? If so, to who or to what organization would be the most fair thing to do at this point?

I think donating to a reputable pro Jewish group fighting to eradicate anti semitism around the world would be a good start.

One off the top of my head

The pieces aren't tainted in many folks' eyes; the consigner/auction house simply did not want to take additional reputational heat after the first tranche generated some negative press (late in the game). Who knows, maybe the failure to reach some high pre-sale estimates was the real influence on the seller or auction house.

They will be sold quietly and individually and may do better. Or the owner or auction house may reach out to select individuals who had previously expressed interest, etc. They will not be white elephants. I think the seller had already committed to donating the proceeds -- which, if true, is admirable. (EDIT: this may be incorrect.)

They are far from the worst of Nazi atrocities and I think it's appropriate to discuss them on this forum in terms of their gemological significance and historical context. My and others' objections in past threads have been directed against efforts to separate the two completely. I think that's a no-no; others disagree -- and some seem to think it is done only for attention-grabbing by the one mentioning the historical context. I don't get that part. They are beautiful and should be seen and enjoyed -- and respected.

People can disagree with what we say but no one can control how or what we post . They can try but they won’t succeed. I will speak my mind. Always

Seconded!

Further, I will never ever understand the arrogance of coming into a forum having to do with an industry that is comprised so heavily of Jews and then straight up telling members here to stfu, like WHERE did all that audacity come from???
