Please help me! I just got engaged (yay!) and my fiancee bought me a 1.5 carat square emerald and I want to set it into a setting similar to a Vera Wang setting I once saw but I can''t find the advertisement it was featured in! I know Vera Wang discontinued her jewelry collection, so I can''t get the same thing, but if anyone out there has the ad or a picture of this ring, please let me know.

It''s a black ad with the ring on a piece of ribbon (I think). The ring is a split-shank micro pave band with an asscher in the center. Very simple, and the ad was in the Winter 2007 Edition of New York Magazine. I know it''s a stretch, but does anyone have that ad?? I''d really love to have that setting! Thanks!

Thanks, but unfortunately that''s not the one. Aside from that ad it''s as if the ring never existed! What I liked about it is that it''s split-shank but not bulky, because it has that dainty look similar to the band of the ring you just led me to.

Just FYI, the reason those rings were discontinued is because they were so delicate that they broke and/or bent very easily. I''d say your best bet is to have something custom designed by someone who specializes in pave work, like Leon Mege.

Check out his website, plenty of split shank eyecandy. You can tell him exactly what you want and as long as it''s feasible he can make it for you.

Thanks so much! I can''t believe they broke because they were so delicate! They were so pretty! I really wanted a picture so that when I go to a jeweler I can show him what I want---the last time I had jewelry designed for me it didn''t come out how I wanted, so I figured a visual always helps!

Sorry, Lila, I don''t know why "split-shank" didn''t sink in my head. The good news is that a delicate split shank shouldn''t be difficult to do as a custom project.

HAHA, not a problem! That ring''s beautiful anyway. It''s actually very similar to a large citrine I have set on a thin micro-pave band, so even though I like the style, I thought I''d change it up a bit!

I know what picture you are talking about and I used to have a pic of it but I unfortunatley deleted them when we decided on my setting. The good thing is that a micropave splitshank should be pretty easy to recreate.

It was mentioned that VW settings were discontinued because they were coming apart. That is probabaly a good warning that anything that thin probably isn''t sturdy enough for everyday wear. I was advised from every jeweler that we spoke with not to go smaller than 2mm. One agreed to go to 1.7 however would not gaurentee the work. THats a pretty bold statement. My ring is 2mm and is super delicate.

Good luck and I''ll let you know if I find it.

I love that setting! But I too would be just a little worried about the mm (otherwise, good luck in getting it!)...
