Well, I received my diamond ring yesterday from GOG and I''m absolutely thrilled about it. I can''t believe this wonderful (yet, hectic) journey is almost complete. I wanted to thank Jonathan and Marie at GOG for making this experience as easy as possible -- both of them are true professionals and I thoroughly enjoyed working with them. I also wanted to thank Chris from Dave Atlas for answering all of my questions and providing me confidence with my choice.

I''m not sure how I stumbled upon this site, but before I joined, I was under the impression that I could just go to a B&M jewelry store or the LA jewelry district and pick out a great diamond at a reasonable price within an hour. I''ve learned so much from this board, and yet, I know I''m still very much a novice. I appreciate all of the help and support I''ve received.

I''m not sure if it was fate or what, but I ended up buying the first diamond that I seriously considered. I went through quite a few other contenders, but in the end, this turned out to be the one that met my objectives. So, here''s the specs:

1.30ct F SI1 H&A
7.06-7.08x4.32
Depth 61.1
Table 56
Crown Angle 34.3
Pavilion Angle 40.8
Polish Ex
Symmetry Ex
Flour Med Blue
Girdle Thin-Med
Cutlet None

And here''s some pics...

I think it's the same one that diamonddude was considering. You beat him to it!

Awesome. That's pretty much exactly what I want...except I don't know if I can afford to go that big.

Thanks all for the kind words. Now, the only thing left is the planned proposal tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Beautifully classic and elegant, and what a great stone!!! Congratulations!!!

Good luck on the proposal. Luckily, I found some other great stones, thanks to Patty, SuperBCert and NiceIce. I hope all goes well.

That is a beautiful ring! You take better pictures than I, too. Congratulations. Aren't you just so excited right now? I know I was, on the way back from UPS. I still have to wait 4 weeks for the ring to be finished, though.

I do remember diamonddude looking at this and suggesting to him that he call and put it on hold. I guess both of you have great taste

diamonddude: Let us know how your other stones work out. They look great too!

Again, thanks all for the kind words.

Diamonddude - I didn't know that you were looking at this diamond as well. I actually had it on hold since 7/13. I'm sure the new diamonds that you're looking at now will turn out to be fantastic. Good luck with your search!

Froof - Yes, I'm really excited. I actually picked up a loupe today at a local Stamps/Coin hobby store and have been inspecting the stone in detail. I'm not sure if it's because I'm new to this, but my eye gets blurry after awhile (and yes, I'm keeping the other eye open

). The only bad thing, is that I don't get to play with it after tonight, because the proposal is tomorrow. Good luck with your setting, I'm sure it'll turn out amazing. Also, good luck with your proposal.

Fortunately, mine came with a loupe. After I got back to my office from UPS, I cleared off my desk and became Master Gemologist for a bit. It's almost scary how long you can stare at something so small. My eyes got blurry after a while, too...especially when I was trying to read the inscription on the girdle. I thought I'd never be able to make out the numbers!

What do you mean you won't get to play with it anymore? If all goes well, and I'm sure it will, you can play with that thing for the rest of your life! Anyhow, you did buy it for your significant other, didn't you?

Best wishes, and please do come back and tell us all about your proposal! Perhaps not everything, just the important stuff!

Thanks for the kind words motcs. Your have a stone there with some of the most outstanding optics that we get to analylze in our lab. I wish I could buy 50 stones just like it. Keep us posted on the proposal and once again, our heartfelt thanks for allowing us to serve you during this important chapter of your life.

Warm regards,
Jonathan, Christen, Marie, Chas and the rest of the GOG staff
