Today''s Pearl Outlet Daily deal was a southsea pendant, and it wasn''t pricey so I got one as a present for someone. Or at least I thought I did. After check out, the site still said "X left" and I would have expected that number to go down. I''m definitely aware that it might be a gimick to get people to impulse buy, and not an actual reflection of inventory.

I was just wondering if any of you bought the "daily deal" and found out later that they ran out of stock? How long until you knew?

And do they usually email you when they send an item?

Well, fingers crossed that I get one

Back in the summer I bought the 100" strand of Freshwaters.

More recently, just over a month ago in fact, I ordered 2 pairs of the Akoya earrings. They have not arrived yet. I know it''s a busy time of year, but a parcel from the UK got to me in less time.

Your e-mail has prompted me to write to them to find out what has happened to my package.

No idea about the gimmick aspect.

Let us know when yours arrives.

They said it should ship out in 1-2 days and they''ll send a confirmation email when the ship it out. Hopefully it''ll be here before the 19th..

Yeah, I bought a necklace from them a few months ago and they forgot to ship it until I called and bugged them a couple weeks later. Then when it finally arrived it was unevenly colored, gunked up with wax, and full of peeling pearls. At least they were nice about the return.

I had a MUCH better experience with Pearl Paradise--exquisite quality, exquisite customer service. Well worth the slight price difference, I thought.

Yeah, I prob wont order from TPO again due to the service I received as well.

I would call them until it shows up :D

I just received it today.

Can''t say much about it though since I really don''t know much about pearls! It looks much nicer than the freshwater pearls I used in my wedding favors, and it does have that misty Southsea quality. There are a few small needle-prick like blemishes.

The only thing I''m a little skeptical about is the size. I didn''t think Southseas came in 8-9mm sizes?

MTG, I''ve read that cultured South Sea Pearls range in size from 9mm-20mm, with the average size around 13mm. TPO is quite reputable so I don''t think they will not call it a SS if it''s not a SS pearl.

I agree with DiaDiva--they may be careless with quality control and customer service, but I have can''t imagine they would lie about the pearl being South Sea.

Thanks guys! Yeah, they didn''t seem shady to me, just a bit lacking in organization based on some past posts. Although they were speedy quick with this order, so I can''t complain.

If I can find my camera, I will post some photos. I hope my mom likes it, I think it might be too small for her taste, but we''ll see

I''m used to seeing faceted gems, 9mm in pearls doesn''t seem as big as a 9mm faceted gem

Yes, please share photos, MTG. Would love to see that pendant IRL.

Here you go. Sorry, I don't really know how to photograph pearls, so sorry if these aren't helpful! camera was really bad at focusing on the pearl.

Next to my wedding favors (had a few left over, hehe).

Here''s one of two of these little pin prick blemishes. Other than that, smooth and silky.

Thanks for looking! I really don''t know much about pearls, so if you''d like to teach me something, that''d be awesome, hehe.

I''m giving it to my mom as a present. She likes pearls, but she lives in China (akoya and freshwater capital) so she doesn''t think they''re "special" and she never buys any there since she''s always worried about fakery. So I''m hoping she''ll like this Southsea pearl (since they aren''t made in china, haha). If not, well, guess it''ll just be coming back home with me.

MTG, well... I'm not a pearl expert (or any jewellery expert for that matter, LOL), but it *looks* like a SS to me. You know I live in SH now and I see loads and loads of different types of pearls...I'm kind of addicted to them, unfortunately (for DH, that is!!

). The more I look at pearls though, the more I can tell quality-wise by looking at them, but only IRL. I buy from the same shop (though I stll do look around for comparison and education purposes) and the people in this shop seem very honest. I asked to look at some white SS's today at this same shop and the smallest I saw were about 10mm. That's NOT to say that yours is not real. Another way to tell is the price point. SS's are a lot more expensive (multiple times) than Akoyas, even the best quality Akoyas. Does that help at all?

Thanks Phoenix. Where is SH?
