I think I found my dress last night. I took advantage of having one of my closest friends in town until Sunday so I''m dragging her to stores to get her opinion on dresses while she is here.
So I made an appointment at a consignment shop in suburban DC called I Do, I Do. Since I''m trying to stay under $800 I figured I should try that shop. I have to say that the experience was lovely. The attendant let us look at all the dresses and pick the ones I liked. They did not have any consigned ones in my size (a petite 2) so we looked at the new ones because the prices looked good. Among them I found one that, even though it was in gold, met the criteria of what I was looking for, no beading or applications, A-line with some fluff to the skirt, a lightweight fabric since we are getting married in the Caribbean, could be ordered in white, and was strapless.
So I put tried on a size 4, came out of the dressing room and the look on my friend''s face was priceless
. The dress was all that I wanted and it fit me well. I was not overwhelmed by it, did not cry, did not think THIS IS THE ONE! I tried on 3 more and did not like any of them, so I tried that one on again and started getting a warm fuzzy feeling about it, started visualizing myself walking towards my sweetie in that dress and it fit the picture perfectly. It''s going for $750 which is perfect for my budget.
I''m posting pictures below. I am going to a couple of stores tonight and, if nothing strikes my fancy, I''m going in next week and ordering this one, which comes in petite sizes thankfully.
