I had initially told my BMs that they could choose their own dresses (just black, cocktail) but that seemed to cause a little bit of anxiety among them, so I decided to pick and I think I found a great one! It's affordable (under $150) and I think it looks great in black in the pics (I'll have to go see it in a bridal store though). I'd probably do either a gold or champagne ribbon! My main reason in choosing black is that everyone can use a great black cocktail dress and I'm having an evening wedding, so they don't need to really fit into "my colors"

I may get one for me too, haha! I really like it.

I just hope it's still around when we order in Feb/March!!! (that's my only real worry!)

let me know what you think!

OHH! I love it! Can you tell me the designer? I was kinda thinking something similar for mine.

What a gorgeous dress. Love that bust detail!!

Love it, great choice!!!

Beautiful dress! I''m considering going with eden bridesmaid dresses too because they are one of the few places that offer gold as a color. Would you let us know how the quality of the dress turns out?

That dress is gorgeous. I love it.

classic! excellent choice.

Hm...appears as though some of the BMs aren''t feeling it as much. THey''re like "I like it but" (the ones who responded at least). I appreciate the honesty but it''s a little frustrating, but I did ask so I''m glad that they''re at least honest, I''d hate to find out that they were just appeasing me or something when they werent so happy. The only thing I didnt like about this one is that it''d have to be from a bridal shop and would thus prob require alterations.

Maybe I''ll go wtih the Ann Taylor Chole Celebration dress with a ribbon (it''s plainer than this one) and buy this one for me in a color b/c I love it. I know it''s not all about what they want, but going plainer may better suit them. Of course I made the mistake of asking for opinions, so I do value them being honest and I can see why they may not love it, even though I do (the rufflely thing on the bottom bugs a couple of ''em). They could order it online which means less alterations prob and less headache.

I don''t know the body types of your BMs but if anyone of them are at all "busty" the first one might accentuate that even more. (I was once in a wedding where our BM dresses had a deep scooped neck and an empire waiste. Let''s just say there was more of me on display and I would have preferred!) I do like the dress you chose though, and if they have it in a color that YOU like and it looks good on your body type, then definitely get one! And even though the one from Ann Taylor is a little more plain I still think it''s an elegant dress and would look beautiful with a gold or champagne ribbon.

yeah, 3 of them are quite busty so that may be a good tip. Since I live 1/2way across the country from them I may ask that 4 of them go shopping together one day and try on stuff and pick it themselves. I''m small chested, so I know that I could wear that dress, but 3 of my 6 girls may not feel good in it.

BM dresses were quite frustrating for me. I had originally told them they didnt have to match, they wanted to match. The girls all wanted something different (diff body shapes), the dress they all loved....I HATED. I ended up just picking one I thought they would like. I didnt want them in something I didnt like for my wedding. They all ended up respecting that, and seemed quite happy. I guess my point is, sometimes giving them the freedom backfires.

Maybe let them all go shopping, see what they like, and if there is no consensus, go with the one you love!

Yeah, I made all the exact same "mistakes" (not necc. mistakes, but it depends). I told my girls they didnt have to match, but then they got nervous about it, so I decided to pick. All my BMs have different body shapes, ranging from broad or plus sized to thin and narrow, large chests to small chests. So hard, and they all have different tastes. My MOH has volunteered to be "in charge" of this (one of the ones with the body where she could wear anything, so that maybe good), so maybe I should just let her run this show for me since she offered and I get nervous making decisions like these. Plus I''m not there, and I think that if 4 of the 6 (the 4 I''m closest with, one is my FSIL and one a cousin from out of state) can agree on one, it''ll be fine. Ug.

So far 1 of the BM''s, my MOH and myself love that first dress, one feels "eh" about it (she likes it but isn''t wild about the bottom of it with the ruffles) and I havent heard from the other 3 yet...I really hope that when they try it on it looks good on everyone, but if not I told my MOH that she can pick the one that looks best on everyone (we have very similar taste, and I''m sure with the girls I have they''d pick something nice) if it''s not the first one I posted. Above all I want them to be happy, but I hope it''s in that first dress!

My feeling is that unless they absolutely haaate it or it''s waaay expensive your BM''s should put up with it and wear it, and you should do the same for them.

Yeah, I know, and I also know they''d wear anything (they keep reassuring me of that if I ask for opinions) I just hate the idea of any of the girls not liking the dress they have to wear all night. I think I just have to get over it, and choose a dress. Next step is that they''re trying it on (eventually, before xmas) so as long as it doesnt make anyone look bad, then we''ll go with it.

If there is a consensus that there is something really wrong with it when they try it on, then my MOH has "power of attorney" (haha), to guide them towards finding another dress. She knows my style best, and hers is similar.

I''d go with them but I just moved to MI and they''re all in MA. And to be completely honest, I''m kind of glad I''m not going. I get to nervous about all of them being happy with the dress (why, I dont know, it''s not like they''d be mad or something, they understand what being a BM entails). I dont want anyone thinking they''re difficult, b/c really they''re not (well maybe one or two is but not to the point of making me crazy or anything), it''s me.

Lovely dress and they can use it again for other occasions! Perfect pick, very elegant, with a nice twist in detail...
