Hi!

So I am sure many of you are playing secret santa at the office, or maybe with friends....so this may help others too

I''m playing it with the girls from the bootcamp group that I go to. We set the range to be from $20-$25. I have no idea what to get!!!!

Should I get her something fitness related? or maybe something for the house?.

Does anyone have any ideas? (links and pictures are very welcome

Thanks!!

My FI just had to get a $20 gift for a secret santa. The woman loved coffee, so we went to BJs (or Costco) and got her a canister of a variety of decorated chocolate covered pretzels sticks (you could do biscotties as well), then he got a small bag of starbucks christmas blend coffee ($5) and a $10 Starbucks card. You can't go wrong. Unlike my FI who received a crystal globe from his secret santa (

) BAAAAD. Unless you really know the person and what they like, I would stick with something that you know they will love. Usually food goes over well! Let us know what you get.

It''s totally cheating, but the most popular item at office/group secret santas I''ve ever seen is a Starbucks Gift Card for the limit amount.

I suppose the sporting equivalent would be a gift certificate to Sports Chalet or Sport Authority, but there''s definitely a part of me that thinks the holiday has become too much of a numbers-shifting transaction that is *definitely* against the spirit of the holiday. I don''t know if your bootcamp group is too hardcare to appreciate it, but what about a pretty yoga mat and yoga stretch DVD to stretch out those rock-hard muscles to make them lithe? A pilates ball kit? A little athletic luxury like a Stella McCartney water bottle?

I would think something sports-related, but perhaps a touch more luxurious than the bare-bones option someone would likely buy for themselves....

Per blueeyes suggestion, I think coffee related gifts are always a good idea!

I also think you can''t go wrong with a Wine theme. (Wine basket, cookies, crackers cheese) Or a bottle of wine, nice opener, maybe 2 inexpensive glasses.

Candles for the home?

You could do a movie theme. Blockbuster gift card, buy some popcorn and movie theater candies. Places like Linens and Things already have the basket all put together!

Maybe a "game" theme. Poker, cards, board games, sudoku?

Good Luck!

Thank you!.
hmmm...
The bootcamp trainer is part of the exchange...
I don''t know if he would approve of me giving her chocolate...maybe I can give that idea a twist! ;)

Who gives out a crystal globe?? lol....that''s actually so bad that it''s funny...hehe

wow you guys are full of good ideas!!!

I like the idea of giving her something fitness related but that she wouldn''t get herself. Like a cute gym bag or bottle...or something like that?. At the class we have to bring a mat (which she has), gloves, water and our bags to put everything in.

I love the coffee idea...but I love coffee!!!

I also love wine!!!

Can you guys be my secret santas?

Oh Mandarine, you have to see its horrible... and especially to a 25 year old MAN? I don''t even think a woman would want it. It was probably a gift that they received last Christmas and didn''t want... REGIFT!

It was a white elephant!

I saw the coolest thing on Enews last night and it's fitness related. It's out of the $25 price range however. I think it was around $30. It's this electronic water bottle that tells you how much you drank during the day. Let's see if I can find it. Found it! It's called the water coach.

From the website:
Description:
Known as the world's first interactive water bottle, the HydraCoach may appear similar to other water bottles, but there is one noticeable difference - the HydraCoach Hydration Monitor. This patented technology enables users to program in their personal hydration needs, track their daily water consumption sip by sip, and be coached throughout the day to achieve optimal hydration.

I kinda want one now!

oh that is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don''t mind getting a bit out of the "range"...it was just a guideline...not a policy...hehe ;)

I really like that water bottle!!!!

I was close to ordering it but maybe I''ll put it on my wish list for santa!

I think I may have to add it to my list too!! lol

Oh, the water bottle''s pretty fun!

Another option, if you''re hoping to stay on-price and if there''s an outlet mall near you, would be to upgrade her gym bag with a more stylish one. For instance, this one from Nordstrom is really cute http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2963312?Category=&Search=True&SearchType=guidednav&keyword=puma+in+All+Categories+%3e+Handbags+%26amp%3b+Accessories&origin=searchresults , albeit out of the target price range, but I think I''ve seen similar ones at Puma outlets for about $30.

I usually go with a candle set, in a nice scent most people enjoy (cotton/linen is what I like to use); the color is nuetral and looks nice in just about any home. It''s a fun thing, and a lot of times, people think it''s frivelous to purchase nice, nice candles for themselves. I work mainly with all females (social services).

Paul is a teacher, and although he is in a predominantly female environment, he likes to get cheap tickets to the Thrashers (hockey); it''s a big hit and Paul says some of his co-worker''s husbands thank him big time because it causes their wives to like the sport.

It''s always hard to decide what to get someone who you don''t know well, or to buy a gift when you have no clue who will get it. My old job''s version of secret santa included a list of three things each participant would include as "wishes." That made it so much easier!!

Good luck, Mandarine!!

Lotto tickets/Scratch off''s ... you never know - it could turn into a gift alot bigger than $25.

With any Secret Santa thing, i like to give one of those cheap crappy $1 fruitcakes FIRST. Then as they are looking at me like "huh.???" I give them the REAL gift. They always seem quite pleased after the fruitcake....

Oh, we always have to do these at work. In the $20-$25 range, my personal favorite things to receive are either a gift certificate for a pedicure or the movies (that amount covers me plus a date!).

The teacher that I am buying for at school is really athletic, and using gifts.com/finder, I came across L.L. Bean water bottles filled with fun stuff. I ended up getting her the "spa" bottle, so it''s a water bottle filled with little soaps and fun stuff like that. It''s really cute!

A 3-month membership to Netflix is a tad bit over $25 (26.97 to be exact), but it''s a cool gift! I just ordered it for my office secret santa xchange.

I love pampering lotions and bath stuff, especially when I''m working out a lot. That water bottle gadget is great though.

what about one of the burt''s bees little totes? there are a few of them (hands/feet/general) that are all between twenty and twenty five dollars. it''s really nice stuff and not something you would normally get yourself (at least i wouldn''t).

I ordered and just received these mercury glass votives with scented candles (set of 4) from Pottery Barn this week...I was going to give them as a gift but they''re so pretty I might keep them, hee hee.

Also, I was just browsing Z. Gallerie''s website and they have really cute gifty things, and tons of fun books in your price range. I have about 20 things in my cart right now...I''m such a fan of online shopping for christmas, I am so grateful for technology!

wow you guys are good!!!!!!!!

Now I have too many options...hehe

I''ll don''t have time to order from the internet so I will have to go to the stores!. Thanks for all the ideas, these are great and I''m sure helpful for otherrs :)))

Heeeeheeee, that''s great!

Mandarine, I liked the bag from Amazon you posted. From the somethingshiny style, how about giving her some really obnoxious leg warmers first, then the bag, LOL!

I actually saw a heart monitor watch. It didn''t required anything else or any other equipment. Unfortunately it''s way over budget.....I''m afraid I''m not much help, but I do like the bag you picked out.

I love that water bottle. I just went and bought a couple as gifts! I think I may be tempted to keep one for myself....
