Anyone been there? Recomend places to go or stay? Online places to book a trip?

Does anyone know the pros/cons of renteing a private one bedroom property like a villa verses a resort or hotel?

Im looking for romantic, peaceful, private, but also activities and entertainment not too far from where we are staying.

I believe windy1365 (I think those are the right numers!!) went to one of the VI for her honeymoon...you might PM her and ask what she thinks?

Hello!

My FI and I are planning on having our wedding/honeymoon on St. John.

Here''s what I know about the islands--
St. Thomas is what you want if you want more excitement. They have nightclubs, resorts, etc.
St. John is largely a National Park. It is much more quiet. It''s were you want to go to get away--make your own
night life etc.

Good luck!

Hi. We recently went to St. Thomas and St. John for our honeymoon. We actually stayed on the island of St. Thomas, but St. John was only a 20 minute ferry ride away. We stayed in a hotel on St. Thomas, but I think it would have been nicer to stay on a villa on St. John.

When we visited St. John, we walked around the Caneel Bay resort, and it looked very nice.

The places were very different. There were more tourists on St. Thomas - the beaches had a quite a few people on them - not crowed though - just not secluded. On St. John, you could walk around and find your own private beach. The beaches were beautiful on both places.

If you like hiking, exploring, and more seclusion - go to St. John. There were even wild donkeys on the island! If you like being around more people, go to St. Thomas. St. Thomas had a million nice shopping places - we didn''t find it until the last day - thank goodness (would have spent all our money).

You can''t go wrong if you chose either because they are only 20 minutes away from each other. You do need to rent a car, though. They ride on the opposite side of the road over there, though. On St. Thomas, you can''t really walk anywhere b/c the roads are really curvy and the people drive fast, so it would be dangerous. You would have to take cabs everywhere. It was very nice having a vehicle to go where we wanted when we wanted. You can even take your rental car on a ferry over to St. John or St. Thomas ($50 for both ways).

The beaches there were the prettiest that I''ve ever seen!!

We are thinking St John and really like Caneel Bay, but it is soo expensive. The Westin is another place we are thinking about. Anyone know of a place to get good deals for plannin a trip to either online?

We went through Expedia, but I don''t know if they are really that much cheaper.

Hey all!
we''re going to St. Thomas for our honeymoon this August. We decided to stay on St. Thomas for 2 weeks, and to take rides to all the other US and BVi''s. We chose St. Thomas becuase there''s more to do - but we decided to stay in a condo tha is not located in Charlotte Amalie - the most populated, or shoul;d i say, the most "toruisty" part of town. This works out welll for us - we have the best of both worlds!! Plus we may even do a "honeymoon away from our honeymoon" and stay at another island for a night or two!

Things are expensive on the island. Make sure that you don''t forget to take sunscreen b/c it is super expensive there. A can of coke is $2.75. And, you have to be careful at some of the restaurants b/c cokes can cost $3.00 and refills are not free. We learned that the hard way when we went to dinner and had to pay $20 for some coke!!

Take some bug spray with you, too!!
