Soooo. Finally got to the AMERICAN IDOL SUMMER TOUR last Sunday night at Nassau Coliseum. Thought I''d give you guys a little summary, in case anyone was still interested!

Tried to take some cell phone pix of Chris & Elliott & Tay Tay, but they didn''t turn out so well. I TRIED!

MANDIVA - only heard her ''cause we were a little late. Booming, is all I know, cause I could hear her in the LADIES ROOM for goddsake.

ACE - smooth like Cheez Whiz. And just as nourishing. Blech.

LISA - trying to go all Alicia Keys on us, playing the piano on one? two? of her songs. Meh.

LISA & PARIS duet on "Waterfalls", amateur dance routine & all

PARIS - mostly just shrieking at the audience to "get up get up" and telling us how much she was gonna "rock this party". Not.

BUCKY - Less sucky than expected. A little awkward on stage though. Sounded okayish.

BUCKY & KELLIE duet on "You''re The One That I Want" from GREASE. Hilarious.

KELLIE - biggest suprise of the night. Back to her cute short haircut. Funny in the "talk to the audience" part. BELTED out her songs & really filled the huge auditorium with her voice. Actually, *GASP* the best of the night for me. She sounded SO MUCH BETTER in person than on the show. WOW.

-- intermission ---

CHRIS - something bad happened to the sound system while they were on break. Sadly this affected Chris''s performances the most, as they tried to fix it. Lyrics all fuzzy & spazzy & distorted. Of course, only intense mean "rocker" faces from Chris. No joy. And now that the sound was all fudged up ...

CHRIS & ELLIOT duet on "Savin'' Me" by, um, Nickelback?? Still bad sound. They looked cute together though.

ELLIOTT - oh boy, whatever the long R&B number in the middle of his set is ... it''s a bad, bad mistake that lost the ENTIRE crowd. This is not an R&B-lovin'' audience. He brought ''em back with "Trouble" though I guess.

BOYS (Chris, Elliot, Bucky & Mace) sing "Patience" where Kat''s set should be. Mercifully she''s still "sick" -- if by "sick" means shooting ENTORAGE episodes, and posing for Teen People, and hanging out at the pool with your 42 year old boyfriend. What a sweetheart!

GIRLS (Mandisa & Paris & Lisa & Kellie) do the "I Feel Like a Woman" medely from one of the season closing shows. Okay. Nothing Special.

TAY TAY TAY TAY TAY TAY .... he enters the house at the rear & comes in singing "Jailhouse Rock" which is done by the time he hits the stage. Then he does a meh version of "Hollywood Nights" ... a good version of "Living for the City"... a JAW-DROPPING, DROOL-INDUCING, STUNNER of a version of the Beatles "Don''t Let Me Down", while playing a very sexy candy apple red bass. WANNA SEE IT? Then he admits he had "problems" with his coronation # "Do I Make You Proud" but dedicates it to the military overseas & sings the heck out of it.

TAY TAY Encore ... "Takin It To The Streets" I was OVERJOYED. Then we ran like hell & missed the other "group" encores to beat the sold-out-crowd traffic jam ... since we had a THREE HOUR drive home.

Even the "didn''t have a horse in the race this year" Sweetie said he enjoyed KELLIE & the GIRLS number & CHRIS & TAY TAY.

Anyone else have tickets?? Anyone else been yet??

thanks for the recap deco. no idol tour for us this year, maybe i''ll just wait until tay tay tours by himself. oh, and good to hear about kellie. i really liked her a lot in the beginning and thought she was great on the Leno red carpet thing, so hopefully there will be life after idols for her too.

lol deco...i have been seeing TayTay in mags and stuff. US weekly said he''s lookin'' for a chickie and something like he likes funny girls and they have to know how to cook. hehee. do you fit the bill??

oh and YES grossness on the whole kat42yearoldbf thang...i saw her smoochin'' on him in the us weekly and was like EWWWWW. and yeah in the same paragraph they said ''oh yeah and she''s sick and can''t make the idol tour''...how nice!!

the tour is supposed to be here like late august i think, if tickets are still left when it comes around, we may grab some since the concert pavilion is like two miles from our house so we can walk!

Most of the idol shows are sold out or have crappy seats left. Richmond Colesium sold out in 15 minutes. G''boro - which is a 25k seat colesium is sold out except for singles.

Sorry Deco, didn''t read your recap! I''m going this coming Sunday & didn''t want any pre-consived notions!

Ohhhh thank you for the Tay Tay fix, Deco. :) Ummmmm, helloooooooo can I BE that red bass? Pleeeease????

bumping this thread up, a little off topic... but I saw Melissa McGee yesterday. she performed at the teacher's convention in Tampa. So out of tune, dressed kind of weird. everyone was moaning who the *** is she. I was embarassed that I actually knew immediately who she was! ;) as my friend put it, you couldn't have a more apathetic audience. all 18,000 of us!

Seeing them tonight - How long did they play? 2,3,4 hours?

Hey Fire & Ice ..

EXCITEMENT!!! I think we figured it was three hours with a 20 minute intermission in the middle ... started at 7pm ... left at 10 but it was still going when we left (skipped a couple encores)

You''ll get to see KAT though!! She wasn''t there my night. Can''t wait to hear your recap! Please do one!

HAVE FUN!!!!!

Well - we had FUN!! The demographics were a riot and all over the board from 6 year olds to 80 year olds! But - the tweens seemed to rule & - too funny - they were dressed to the nine. People watching has always been a sport for me!

I''ve been seeing concerts in Greensboro Coliseum since I was a teenager. The accoustics are fine. BUT - What was with the band - I could hardly hear the Idols they played so loud. Was it on purpose to hide flaws? The only time I really enjoyed the performances was when the band cooled & the idols played their own instruments. Even with the encore (Dancin in the Streets) Taylor had to go in front of the band and tell them to lower it while he played his harmonica.

I thought I''d read Deco''s comments - but I think I''ll do my recap first mostly because the venue was so different. This is the only NC stop & Greensboro is home to Chris. So, lots was featured around the North Carolinians - Kellie, Bucky & Chris. Since all but a couple aren''t from the South - many tired jokes about "SWEET tea".

7:00 comes around and a comotion & screaming is heard. Who is entering the floor of the coliseum - Is it Bucky? No - It''s Bucky''s TWIN! He''s mobbed & signs a bunch of autographs (Does he sign his name? Or just "Bucky''s Twin"?). He was both gracious & lovin it. I''m sorry - but those boys are just plain cutie pies!

7:15 - cue band - plays AI song. For some dopey reason - it caught me off guard - but I laughed out loud! Mandissa first - She''s a big girl with a beautiful voice that flat out didn''t translate save a few killer notes. Maybe I couldn''t get passed that wardrobe had her in a halter top. Heck, at 47 & a size 6 - I wouldn''t wear a halter top - What were they thinking? But, she owned the stage & was a good opener - But she dedicated a song to Rueben Studdard and talked all gooey about him. Deco - your experience the same? Maybe they are coming out with a duet album - don''t know.

Next - ACE - O.K. NOW I see why 19 signed him. Give him a little polish and a decent song - that boy had SOME KIND OF stage presence. And, this coming from someone who thought it was creepy on Idol - SEXY! He was the biggest surprise - he sang great and worked the audience!

Lisa - Ace & she did a little diddy introduction. She gets my vote for most improved. She was right on the mark with her songs. She looked adorable. She had incredible grace for her tender age. And, I love it when the Idols can actually play an instrument. Enter her friend Paris.

Wardrobe - The groupie for boys 2 men needs her outfit back! She was every bit of awful. On the CD, she did a wonderful heartfelf rendition of "Midnight Train to Georgia" - Her entire stage presence consisted of her bouncing her booty around. I kept thinking in the back of my head - PLEASE DON''T PUT ON A M.BLIGE hat. She did. I''m done.

Bucky - in his element. Huge fan base here. He did well. But, I''ve never been aboard the "sucky bucky" train. I''ve always thought he had his charm. And, he does.

Then comes the Kellie & Bucky duet - "You''re the one that I want" Hysterical! That girl has got to go into acting! I wasn''t kidding about Hee Haw! She was O.K. - again playing to her NC element. She did much more of a rock sound than country though.

Intermission!

..... A Chris sighting at the end of the floor! The CROWD went NUTSO! Then he appears on stage - one could hardly hear above the roar! This is where the night went from cheesy pop tart Idol concert to - WOW! He did fantastic. I loved his rendition of the songs (Wanted Dead or Alive - Renagade etc.) Then - the BEST surprise - Elliot walks out in the middle & the two do a duet "Save Me". Fantastic!

What can I say for the rest of the evening. It was ALL about the Boys. They did duets & all of them performed. They just jammed - Chris playing the guitar - Bucky playing guitar. My only wish is that they let Tay Tay play with them. Would have been tooooo much fun. Loved Elliott''s voice!

The after intermission was perfect until Mc Blech took the stage. Loved the music to "black horse and the Cherry Tree" - couldn''t bare to hear her sing. She was awful. At one point - my only thought was "Miss America called - they are missing one of their contestants." - as she strolled back and forth on the stage. She sang over the Rainbow off key. Poor thing - I felt sorry for her. But not sorry enought that her tenure on stage was brief.

....Then TAY TAY enters from the back and zooms amoung the crowd singing! Great stage presence - great voice & plenty of Spastic tick dance - O.K. I''m hooked! Plays his own guitar & then his encore of "Dancin in the Streets" w/ harmonica. Another Encore - with all " We are the Champions" & then Livin in the USA.

An enjoyable evening all around. Granted this was home to three Idols - but it was truly a sell out. They even opened up the end stage in July which quickly sold out. This is a 25k seat coliseum! Of course they say this at every venue - but it was noted many times that this was their best crowd. Prolly didn''t hurt that Bucky''s, Chris''s & Kellie''s family were prominently in the audience.

Now to read Deco''s - probably more detailed account - of Idol.

Read your comments Deco - enjoyed them. Don''t know if it was the different venue/day etc or if we just came away with some different thoughts.

Got a different impression of Ace - really thought he could be a pop star - the best singing not required - and the tween and teens sure did SWOON over him.

Lisa - she really must have hit her element here. Both hubby and I were surprised how poised, talented & overall presence she had.

Paris - Agred - but she must have even stepped up the "steroid" factor. Gawd was she annoying bouncing her 17 year old booty all around the stage - blech.

Kellie - they put back her hair extensions -

I am convinced they are her undoing. Wardrobe had her in a red corset - made her butt look HUGE!

Chris - agreed with the sound system - I think the band played to damn loud. Chris did great with his accoustic version of "Wanted" and another less loud song.

LOVED my E-man - yeah, the crowd was not an R&B - I didn''t care - he could humour just me and I was feelin the love.

Girls - The girls didn''t do a group thing - maybe b/c Kat was back.

Your TAy Tay didn''t have nearly the amount of play here than at yours - good venue for you!

interestingly enough in my latest US Weekly...they said Kelly did a guest spot on the View and I guess everyone just loved her. So they were saying that she might be an option for Starr''s seat? Whaaa?

also they had a big article on McPhoo about the nasty rumors about her, info on her 42 year old bf (who she had been dating for llike 3 years? ewww) ... and how she took off from the tour because she was sick but she was seen in the pool and out at night before and after she claimed she couldn''t sing etc etc. anyway kinda funny.
