I think everyone would feel awkward wearing too large of a stone.
Maybe I'm wrong.

How big would you go:
For a ring?
For a pendant?
For earrings?

Anika I am right there with you!

Ring 1.5 to 1.75
Pendant 1 ct would be fine.
Earrings: .75 to 1 in each ear: I can''t even see them so I don''t care too much about earrings.

Maybe if I was older I would want something flashier? ;)

A two-carat RB, but it would have to be D coloured.

I don''t wear pendants.

I wear two-carat total weight earrings now, and wouldn''t want to go bigger. They''re H, SI1, so I suppose I''d up the quality.

Ring 5ct- (plus 2.5 carat for sensitive situations)

Pendant 5ct

Earrings 2.5cts each ear

3.00 F VS1 round ring
5.0 E-F VS1 fancy ring
2.5 tcw studs

wait! what am i talking about?? what''s the largest i''d wear??? anything as long as i could lift my finger, my ears don''t fall off and my chest doesn''t cave in! it''s a diamond we''re talking about! i''d wear any size!! maybe not everywhere and in every situation (and insurance would suck)...

How big would you go:
For a ring? -
Tops, 3 ct.
For a pendant? - Don''t wear them
For earrings? - 2 ct total. 1 ct in each ear would be good for me, possibly too big. I have feakishly small ears.
40.gif

Ring - 3.5 carat RB or 4-5 carat fancy
Pendant - 1.5 carat - 2
Earrings - 1.5 - 2 carat for each ear

For a ring: 2ct round or 3-4 ct Asscher
Pendant: 1-1.5ct round. I have a 2ct Signity Star and I think it''s way too big on me.
Earrings: 1ct each ear.

We size gals need to start an Elizabeth Taylor Society or something. Mara, care to chair the group?
37.gif

ring: 2 carat princess or 3.5 carat emerald cut or asscher

pendant: 5 carat something!

earrings: not a big fan of studs on myself, so maybe 1 carat in each ear?? Don''t know......

Man, some of you are really into SIZE!!!!
9.gif

~~Ring: 4-5 ct. Cushion
Pendant: 2 ct. Princess
Earrings: 1 ct. Round studs

Ring- 1.8 to 2 carat pear shaped
Pendant- 1 to 1.25 round
Earrings- .75 carats each ear round or princess

Ring: 3 ct round or up to 5 in an asscher or cushion or something
Pendant: About a carat less than the ring
Earrings: I don''t want my ears to droop, so about a carat an ear.

If I did halos around the stones, I would go a bit smaller.

For a ring? 2 ct max (geeez i''ve gone up
20.gif
) and also depends on what shape it is..

For a pendant? 1.5 - 2 ct
For earrings? 2 -2.5 tcw

the ''problem'' here is that people would not believe that its a real diamond (people just don''t wear them here in Holland
), and if they do think/know its real, they would probably think your a show-off and should spend your money somewhere else...(or steal it from you.. )I get that already, and i have a poorly cut 0.50 RB...

Ring- 2.5 carat rb, or 3 carats for any other shape
Pendant- 1.5ct any shape
Earrings- up to 2ctw or 1 carat each ear any shape because my little lobes can''t handle anything bigger.

My mom is right here and I''m asking her opinion:

3ct ring
3ct pendant
3-4ct each ear, drop style

She says ''''Too much is ridiculous... diamonds can''t compensate for personality."

She''s also saying that rings that are too huge and top heavy(Ms. Hilton) or overly large pendants(gulp..this means me I guess, in my dreams) look too much like costume jewelry, detract from the wearer and the whole idea of diamonds. ???(the idea of diamonds as exquisite, precious, rare) to be used like spices/condiment, not a main course or defense shield.

She says a lot of people(double gulp) might wear a lot of diamonds/or overly large ones to boost self-esteem...

Even my idol Liz Taylor, of course she says Taylor(and many entertaiment/''circus people)'' had a rough early life and was/are probably filling voids with gems. She''s saying Taylor''s many marriages are a hint.

We''re arguing a bit now.. I''m saying that this could be true with anything excessive(clothing, shoes, housewares, gourmet foods/snobbery, cars etc.) anything can be used in attempt to bolster esteem.

she''s also saying that many people/jewelers will sell you whatever you have money to buy, with no accounting for aesthetics.... bottom line $$$.

Now she''s talking about Sean P. Combs atrocious diamond cross.

I''m bringing up her fondness for Willams Sonoma and Dean and Deluca.

Oh well, you get the idea of this conversation.

Back to diamonds/upgrades..She says it''s best to improve on quality over size. So, an upgrade should be in cut, color, clarity, etc over size.

One thing I''m agreeing with that is that the average person has more important issues in mind.

She''s saying If you''re in the industry it''s your bread and butter so it makes sense to wake up thinking about them but anyone else needs therapy/self-help/to get a life.

gee, thanks mom! lol!

ring - 1.5 carat max. My hairdresser has a 1.5 center stone and for around here it''s huge!! Any larger than that would not be appropriate in this area, at least for me anyways. I''d feel really self conscious.
pendant - .50 would be perfect
earrings - I don''t have pierced ears!! Long story....
