I'm Asking for More Dust for Matthew

I't's not really bad news, it's just that he's not really progressing as the doctors have hoped--he's 10 months old, he's home, but he's still being fed with a gastric tube and has an oxygen tube. Doesn't have the sucking urge and had no idea what to do with the Cheerio my neice tried to give him. He's not sitting up yet. And there a whole host of problems that they have chosen to keep to themselves which we totally respect.

In spite of all the trials and setbacks the little guy is constantly smiling. I am going to ask my neice if she is OK with me posting his picture so you can all see what a special little guy he is.

Matthew sounds like such a fighter, and such a love. Sending tons of prayers his way, for him to thrive, and get stronger... The fact that he smiles is huge... He'll get to where he needs to , just sounds like it's going to take a while. I wish you would know Seven's one as her Angello had a huge battle with a major heart defect. It was a roller coaster for many years.. I saw him just after his second heart surgery... Now?? He's a little go getter, and has a great sense of humor..

Would love to see pics, as long as your family agrees...

The PS DUST goes a long way....

I'll keep the little one and his family in my prayers. I'm happy to hear that he's home.
I have a friend who had an unplanned baby with his (now) wife. She had all sorts of issues (health and other wise) and they found out the baby had a birth defect and he was born with his intestines outside of his body. They spotted it early enough, and so they were ready when he came. He's now 2, and still on a feeding tube. He was in the hospital so long with breathing tubes, etc that he refuses to put anything in his mouth. He's a happy little fellow though. Then after they had him, she got pregnant again. (FYI they are very poor and can't afford normal health care, etc) and didn't have money for prenatal vitamins, etc and this little one was born with spinal bifida. She's now 1 or so, and a happy little girl, although she'll never walk. *End thread jack*
She is an amazing mother and does her best with the cards she's been dealt. It sounds like Mathew has a great family and support system, which is where it all starts. I hope you can post pictures because I'd love to see his smile! Great families can make all the difference and it's obvious he has at least one family member who cares (you) and from the sounds of it, a lot more too!
