Hi all,
Well another crossed off the ladies-in-waiting list - I am now engaged!
My BF went out yesterday afternoon, I was a little bit grumpy as I knew that he was going to propose sometime in the near future and I had hopes for this weekend, but he said he had to go to work.
He had been gone about 15 minutes when he called me and asked me to hang out some wet laundry he had left in the machine - I wasn''t too impressed by this stage so didn''t exactly run down to do it - about another 15 minutes later I finally went to the laundry room to hang it out...and on top of the washing machine was a rose and a red envelope. I opened the envelope and it contained a poem and a message saying that I was going on a treasure hunt!!! There was a clue to go look somewhere which I recognised as a wharf we used to sometimes go to about 10 minutes drive from our house.
So I jumped in my car and went to the wharf, and found the next clue in another red envelope hidden around the side of the boathouse, again containing a poem and clue. I then went to several other locations around the city for about an hour, following clues and finding new ones at each place, and each location was somewhere special for us e.g. where we had watched fireworks at New Years, or gone on a picnic etc. The last one was on a clifftop overlooking Auckland harbour, it was a place we had discovered one day which is totally secluded with amazing views of the city, I don''t think many people know how to get there, we sort of found it by mistake. I had to wait there for about five minutes as per instructions and then I saw my BF walking up the track to me, he was all dressed up in his suit and carrying a bunch of roses, when he reached me he read me another poem and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, then slipped the ring on my finger!!!
We stayed there a while and had some champagne which he also bought with him, then went home to call family and tell them the news. It was absolutely magical and I can''t believe how much effort he went to ensure it was a really really special proposal for me
