HEY!!!

I am officially engaged as of today. It''s a long story that I don''t have time to post, but long story short, he still managed to surprise me today even though I knew about the ring.

It was supposed to be yesterday and SO many people were in on it. But, (now don''t worry!) we got in a car accident on the highway, so it sort of ruined the day yesterday and he had to deal with the police report and the insurance company. =(

But right now I''m on cloud nine--I''ll post all about it soon!!

Thanks for the magic dust--it definitely worked!! I''ll post pics in SMTR as soon as I get enough good weather to get it to really sparkle!!

OMG! Thank you for the great responses!!

1. I don''t have pics yet =( There is such crappy weather here in NY that I can''t take my new precious outside to give it''s due. I do have the engagement flowers though. I have some of it in a box and one I took driving (lol that''s bad!) so I''ll post those now, but THE REALLY GOOD ONES will come later when the weather clears up!

2. Here''s the story!!

So on Saturday he came to pick me up from work and we were driving home. It was an unusual day at 60* and sunny. Perfect outside--but then we got into a car accident 2 exits away from my house. This sorta killed his first engagement idea, which was a scavenger hunt. We''re fine and healthy but it was so stupid because the woman behind us was texting!! and slammed into our behind. The bumper on his car is dangling and she tried to tell us not to call the police or file with insurance. Nuts!

The original proposal was to have a box he made that contained one poem in it and flowers be in my house when I got home. A family member or friend would be video taping as I opened and discovered the clues and drove to the places it hinted at. At each place would be another close friend with another clue for the next location. It was our HS where we first met, a park where we first hugged and the bus stop where we first kissed. He would meet me at the bus stop and then say, "I''ve been waiting 9 years for this moment. Will you marry me?"

I have the box and the letters that he wrinkled and aged with wine and coffee for that old feel look. He also sealed them with red wax and stamped with our initials. So even though that horrible woman ruined my original proposal, I still have the things!

He was hoping the weather would hold but yesterday it was cold and horrible outside. SO he went for plan B. Trick me! He had my sisters say they were taking me out to a dessert bar in Queens. So as we''re driving we''re heading toward Cocheron Pond, a beautiful picturesque place. I was tricked into getting out of the car to make sure that they didn''t run over the curb (very believable since they''re horrible drivers) and then they took off. I ran after them since my family is a bunch of pranksters. Then they stopped and said from the car window, Look behind you.

I see my boyfriend walking up the hill against the backdrop of this lake with flowers and smiling. I just started crying. My sisters were cackling because they pulled a good one and drove off. He got to me, and hugged me and gave me my flowers. We walked around the pond like we always do and talked. Finally we stopped at the bench to take pictures, again something we always do. Now I knew it was going to happen, I just didn''t know if it would be then.

So we''re posing and he says turn around honey. I turn around and he''s on one knee. He has the ring open and he says, "I love you. I love loving you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" I''m crying so hard I can''t answer him. LOLZ! But I managed to bleat out a yes! He hugged me and we were just giddy.

I was worried I''d be one of those girls who would regret being asked to be married. That I''d get a pit in your stomach sort of feeling since I was such a commitment-phobe (my parents are separated). But it was so natural and anticlimactic. I was just like, this is it. No big sudden realizations...just a comfortable easy acceptance that this was the next big step for me, for us.

And that was yesterday! I went to work today and all the other teachers were like congrats! My students made me cards saying congrats. They wanted to know what my fiance''s name was so they''d get to know my new last name. Some wanted to be my flower girls and ushers. It was really just SO cute. The little girls all oohed and aahed over my ring and the boys were just blatantly curious about what would happen. They all seem to think I''d be magically married before this September (if they only knew what wedding planning was!!)

At first I was so sad for you that the original plan was messed up, but then I read your story and am sitting here at work having a blubber! How romantic. These adorable proposal stories really get me teary!
