This time every year I become obsessed with Fall and the upcoming fashion trends. I dig in my closet to find what works and give away what doesn''t so I can make room for all of those yummy things I just must have! I spend hours pouring over Vogue and Elle and dreaming of that new jacket, bag, shoe that I just must have. Are there any others who share this obsession with me? If so, what item/items do you just have to have for Fall?

i think i am obessed, but it doesn''t start and end with fall! it''s every season!!! i''m a fashion addict.

HI:

I was thinking of starting this very thread Libster! I am into flummer shopping--mostly b/c our weather here in the foothills (of the Rockies) is unpredictable and one must be prepared--or that is my excuse and I am sticking to it. So far I have acquired/purchased:

1) pair of Ughish type boots by Donald Pliner
2) black Prada winter hi tech coat (thinsulate and the whole 9 yards)
3) brown Gucci hobo
4) two pairs of miss 60 jeans--darker washes
5) two pairs of leather ankle boots--identical in style (pointed toe and high stiletto heel) but one in black and one in brown
6) black belt with large jewelled buckle

I still want to get some cashmere sweaters/sets--in eggplant, sapphire blue or black.

For the first time, I haven''t even looked at fashion for fall. I''m cutting back. It''s a sad but true situation. Actually, I''m just planning to get a few pairs of cute shoes and some boots AND some new shirts and sweaters. Not a lot. But a new coat is necessary too.

We have two mortgages right now, so if I buy too many things, my husband will kill me and bury me under the desparetly needing to be fertizlized blueberry shrubs!
32.gif

Anything I buy has to be easily hidden under my car seat in a small bag, so I''ll buy lots of little things, but not too little - not like jewelery or anything, just little sweaters and cute undergarments.

jcrow, for some reason it's only fall for me...thank GOD, or I'd be sooo broke
20.gif

Canuk....you've been a busy shopper and sounds like you got some yummy things. I've been contemplating a belt with a big jeweled buckle, too, and I just love all things GUCCI
11.gif

Michelle, fertilizer for the blueberry bush...LMAO too funny!! I can soooooo relate to hiding purchases....then rolling my eyes when hubby asks if something I'm wearing is new
9.gif

I'll probably end up with another pair of jeans (that I don't need) an expensive handbag (which I don't need) this great leather jacket I saw online at Neimans.........I'm going to need an intervention

I love fall perfect weather for me! I just bought a really lovely suede Lodon Fog trench in this lovely deep red color. Less then 100$ (Soo happy!) And I went to the Liz Claborne outlets and bought four of their no iron/stain button downs for about 12$ each. I want a new bag, one that is big enough for my text books and my laptop....but have not found one I love yet. I figure once I lose another 15lbs that will be my treat to myself for all the money I am saving on food.

I''m WORRIED about the fall fashions....I see in all the magazines that skinny tapered jeans are making a comeback, so are ballet flats. TWO things that make me feel short, even though I''m 5''7.

Also, I''ve been wearing low-rise, boot-cut jeans for so long, I''ve thrown out all my skinny tapered jeans. That means a whole new wardrobe for me
7.gif

Tweed. tweed. tweed. Skirts, pants, with cashmere twinsets and sweaters with details like crocheted cuffs and bell sleeves. And a black military coat, double breasted, with brass buttons and stand-up collar. And 3 inch black Manolo classic pumps. Crisp white shirts. Black velvet suit with sequin tanks for the holidays. Black pencil skirt with slouchy belt and ballet neck sweaters. Ankle-strap "Joan Crawford" peep-toe pumps in brown croc. Large Gucci tote in classic brown GG. Gold leather Juicy hobo. Lacey camisoles for under suits. Embellished jeans.Sequined ballet flats. Bejewelled silk stilletos.

Oh, boy, am I in trouble already!

Oh Jenn, they sound great!!!! I love tweed!!!! Oh and yummy cashmere sweaters, got to have them in soft colors!!!!!

oh god, tapered pants are the worst thing ever invented. I don''t think they are flattering on ANYONE!!!

Unfortunately, I am a med student and therefore way too broke to try to keep up with trends! Pretty much stick to the classics

Yeah, I''m obsessed with fall fashion as well, but I definitely cannot afford any of it! I''m in a little bit of a budget crisis right now, so there''s no way I can get anything for awhile. Looking at Vogue and Elle and Bazaar and all those "uppity" mags just make me depressed right now because I can''t do any shopping!! Maybe next fall.....

I am a failure to my gender. My idea of "fashion" is a (clean) Old Navy Perfect Fit tshirt (long or short sleeved)/thin henley over thin tank top, with (clean or the illusion of clean) jeans/cargos/cords, with running shoes or boots. I don't get very...fashion forward. I didn't get too involved in purses til about 5 years ago and Im pretty lame when it comes to my coats. I have a toffee leather blazer I got on clearance at Target about 2 years ago for $16 bucks and a black, ripped up peacoat that I need to find a worthy replacement for.

God I suck

No you dont!
I was like that until being a greek girl was beaten into me (and yes it took a lot of force and threats). I still stick to khakis and polo shirts most days or jeans and a button down. I

my cowboy boots and accept coach and dooney purses with a smile.
But mostly I get excited about practical things which is why the friend who I went out with tonight had to compliment me and look impressed when I showed her how I had switched out my kitchen faucet.

Ooh, I will be so jealous if you got the coat I saw and wanted. I couldnt bring myself to try it on because I knew I''d like it and couldnt rationalize spending that much right now. Is it the one below? I dont know how to insert into text.

As for my fall shopping, I am totally holding off, I spent way too much money recently! But I definitely need some new cashmere, pretty jewel tones, I have lots of black and pastels, bleh. Also, its so hard for me to find cashmere that I''m not sensitive to, but I still love it. And I definitely need some new boots. My next shopping quest will be for shoes to match these really cute bcbg brown herringbone pants i bought. I never know what to wear with brown pants so I don''t buy them. Silly huh? I stick to khakis and black. My excuse is I''ve only been a working girl for a year so my work wardrobe is still in the developing stages

Oh, I need some new jeans too...I probably needed them this summer but I dont really like having too much summer denim.

oohhh new faucets! We need to do that.

I get SO much crap for my "lazy" fashion choices. It''s not like it''s all sloppy really. I just don''t feel comfortable in something I can''t crawl around on the floor in. So skirts and dresses and nice pants are out ;) I think if we bought a purse worth more money that would last longer ...I might go for it. Not sure. I get so bored so fast.

I am kind of a freak for practical too. I will overpay for things I really love or really want badly ($200 frye boots, anyone?) but mostly Im a cheap person, Target purses, etc. I would be willing to bet that most of my clothing is Target or Old Navy. And I do get a rush out of a sale. It makes my husband laugh. My mom taught me that. She is the QUEEN of Clearance racks. Famous Barr (Kaufmanns on the east coast) is her home away from home. My swimsuit for my honeymoon cost her $2.98. haha!

A fabulous classic courderoy blazer.

Did someone mention taps? Mamilla have some great designs: Art Lebedev

This one reminds me of a giraffe!

I don''t like to spend a lot of money on trendy things, but I like to be in style, so I find the juniors section of department stores are perfect for designer knockoffs at very reasonable prices.....faux suede, cashmere sweater or chanel tweede jacket look alikes etc. Nordstroms junior section has the best clothes, of decent quality too. I have to thank my parents for my non-existent, narrow adolecent butt because it makes shopping cheap much easier.

Some of my must haves for fall: wedge moccasins, cropped blazer, cowboy boots

HI Blue:

Yes, it is this coat, but mine is a true black and is not a nylon outer--but a "softshell", their techy garardine. I fell in love with it and although $$ I''ll wear it for ages and ages. We get lots of wet weather (sleet, snow) and I wanted a coat that would take me everywhere and look good too. Thanks!!

cheers--Sharon

Ame,
I love Old Navy and Target, especially the Isaac Mizrahi line they have now. I tend to invest more money in traditional items like black pants, white long sleeve shirts, cashmere sweaters, etc. The more trendy the item, I''m likely to look for a less expensive version because most likely it will only be in style for one season, i.e. the trendy tunic this past spring/summer. I purchased a great one from Old Navy even though I would have loved to have a Tory Burch Tunic, just couldn''t pay the price

I did cave and buy this leather jacket from Neiman Marcus. I just loved the snake embossed leather. Can''t wait for a cold day to wear it with a white T, jeans and a cute pair of boots!!

Thanks to Diamonds4Me posting that scrumptious coat in another thread...off to www.newport-news.com I went and just had to have these shoes! Something similar was in my head/on my list and for the price I couldn''t pass them up!

sudmoc.jpg

Libster, your shoe choice is excellent, but I want them in a wedge heel like this......

Imagine how great these would look with jeans:

tealwedge.jpg

BUT, then look what I found on Payless.....cuter and cheaper

olive wedge.gif

Jaysonsmom,
Too cute!! I originally wanted these wedges (pic below) from www.shopintuition.com but then I found the ones above for $29.

I do like those payless cuties!!!

sudwedg.jpg

I was looking at cowboy boots, but found these: How cute are THEY? with skinny jeans tucked into them....almost like a riding boot.

brnboots.jpg

I did get my sequined stilettos, courtesy of Steve Madden.

mystikal2.jpg

My other fall obsession is a funky Chrome Hearts cashmere sweater!!! I keep searching Ebay for one since I don't have any local stores that sell this brand.

Jenn,
Those are GREAT!!! Love the heel!

HI:

Great stuff everyone! Excellent jacket Libster! I see that many of the styles of shoes for the fall/winter have that MaryJane round toe--but with many variations in heel. Keep those pics coming!

cheers--Sharon

HI:

You are not a failure of any sort and I really doubt you suck; in fact your honesty is refreshing Ame--you know what you want and need and there isn''t a thing wrong with that. And there is nothing I love more than a great bargoon--in fact those three pairs of boots I bought were last seasons stock and all 1/2 price. BTW, you could get a couple of great jean skirts in knee and 3/4 length, wear them with your Frye boots and tee shirts and look fab. And denim would wear well if and when you needed to crawl around on the floor
