I've been doing my due diligence and have narrowed the field. Please give me any and all advice. I'll share links. In the link, you see a video and picture for: a 1.82 ct J, 1.98 ct K, 1.68 J and 1.68 L. I don't want to share my fave yet. Thoughts please!

Also, Fred at 47 jewels has been amazing to work with.

So the only one that is truly an OEC is the 1.89. All the others are too shallow or have too big tables (more transitional cuts).

If having a true OEC is not that important then you might just want to say that you need help buying an antique stone (vs. an
OEC).

How long have you been looking? I vote to keep looking. What is your budget? See if PSers can point out a few stones
that may fit the bill and give you some other options.

Good point! I like transitionals also. So antique diamond works here. I have looked around, but keep coming back to these 4. My budget is whatever I can stomach really, which seems to be closer to $10k than $12k, but it is no mpre than $12k. This is a replacement/ upgrade bc I recently lost my engagement ring which was a transitional. I don't mind a little warmth color-wise. I don't seem to be drawn to anything brighter than an I. I appreciate your feedback. Someone had suggested a few on a recent post, but I made my way back to these.
All suggestions are a go.

I think with antique stones it's all about the flavor that you like. Of the ones you posted, I like the L best, but that's just my taste out of these 4.

The J 1.89 ct is a little wonky but that is my fave of the four that you posted.

Have a look at these for comparison.

This one is larger and within your budget. Seems like it has potential.

Here's a smaller K color. Center looks like it could be more pinwheel-y versus floral.

I would eliminate the 1.68 because its proportions just aren't the best. Its basically a transitional, but that flavour of cut benefits from good cut symmetry and this one doesn't have that (which is why the "pattern" [ or lack thereof" is so chaotic under the table).

The 1.89 has potential. Nice classic OEC proportions. Very white for an old cut.

The 1.68 is an Early American cut, like mine. But for that style of cut I like to see a smaller table so there isn't any leakage around the table perimeter. The precision/symmetry of the cutting on this one is nice though.

The 1.95 carat is another Early Ideal cut. For this style I like to see better symmetry in the cutting so the arrows are nice and clear and straight. This one is a little off in that department. Table could be smaller and crown higher, too. Could be worth seeing in person to see how apparent the imprecision of the cut is in person. I think the 1.68 is a little better in the regard.

Your feedback is very helpful. I am still relatively new here. I have used Ivy and Rose before and it worked out very well. That 2.11 is NICE.

I've never heard of an early American or early ideal, but i noticed the patterns moving closer to round brilliants.

Lol I think the 2.11 from I&R Is one I recommended on your previous thread. It's a really nice option !

I can get over the s1 but yes, it's the 3rd time it's been recommended. I know the clarity issue is in my head and I am working through it slowly. The close up pics and vids really convince me it's an issue. Maybe I'll pull the trigger this time.

Are you in the US? It's returnable. Might be worth it to see it irl.

Honestly the 2.11 looks super clean. The grade setting inclusions look like they’re around the edges so would give you a great face up. There is something in the middle but it’d be good to see it in person if you can.
My own diamond is very similar in how the inclusions are arranged and it’s like looking into a pool of water.

These L colors are always catching my eye

Have you seen these cuts in person? I think you would benefit from that if you are spending so much. It will help focus your search.

These L colors are always catching my eye

The top 2.31 ct has potential!

The bottom one is an EGL L which means that it’s probably an N by GIA standards. Also, the stone has a huge table at 64%. I imagine it was an old cut that was given a recut. Not the best.

I recently lost my engagement ring which was a transitional

I’m sorry to hear that!!

Can you share an up close ( the vendor photo?) photo of the one you lost?

Do you want something similar to the one you had or something markedly different in flavor?
That might help with suggestions

The top one is pretty but it’s more out of round - some ppl like that wonkiness tho. The second one is really warm (lower than L for sure). I like the I&R one the best of the ones mentioned in this thread.

I think that one is pending…

Eta maybe not. Oops. Perhaps the sale fell through. Agreed this one is stunning

How can I tell if it's available? I sent her a messaged, but only see it on her IG account.

Yes just message her. I must have been mistaken or else it has said pending but fell through. I could have been mixing it up with something else. I drool over all her stuff!

I will pull the trigger on this asap. It's the setting I plan to get anyway

Please come back and share when you get it. I love this stone and the ring and it’s such a good deal!

I believe it is pending, her most recent post with this ring says it’s pending. But I just bought a beautiful OMC from her and she was so easy to work with and her prices always seem reasonable! She posts loose stones often and typically on weekends so I’d keep checking!

Edit to add: also cannot go wrong with the expert advice above and try that Ivy&rose stone!
