Well, ok, I'll dangle the carrot....
2 weeks ago, I read about the latest diamond price increase and it put "the fear of God" into me. I have been quietly looking for a 3ct, but wasn't real motivated to make a move and then....the dreaded price increase.
I could never, ever part with my wedding band, way too sentimental (really lovely too). So, I absolutely had to find a ring that would work with my band, a tough order to fill, by the way. My wedding band is an eternity band with alternating rounds and baguettes (east/west direction). Just couldn't find a ring that would work and I really don't believe that I am a great candidate for custom. (yes, I've done it with Leon and yes, you are all still waiting for pics as I am an idiot when it comes to computers).
You, lovely ladies of PS, sold me on the idea of, at least, considering a "J". I have always purchased "G" or higher, color grades before. Well, remembered that I had seen a lovely setting, at the B&M where my engagement ring and wedding band came from. That lovely setting happened to be made to go with a wedding band like mine, as they manufacturer their own pieces. That lovely setting also happened to have a 3.11 J VS1 center stone with .80 carats of emerald cuts on the sides. WOW, so glad I have a great memory.
Anyway, considered it for weeks, brought it home for a three day visit, on approval, love the jeweler for allowing me to do it. Returned it, haggled and haggled. Made it clear that I had gotten somewhat of an education here on PS and that I had been shopping elsewhere. They were willing to sell for a competative price, YAY for them and me too! Biggest check I have ever written for a piece of jewelry, YIKES....no regrets though, can't stop starring at my hand and my beautiful new "J". It has so much life and I love the warmth!
THANK YOU DEAR FRIENDS ON PS....LOVE MY NEW J AND IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!
PS-One of my kids is coming over Saturday for a crash course on the digital camera. I'll have to post pics of the J and the Leon together!
MAYBE MARA SHOULD COME TO THE EAST COAST FOR A VISIT AND TAKE PICS FOR ME! THE BEST PICS EVER, MARA!
