Hi, ladies.

I''m new and still trying to learn my way around the forum so I hope it''s ok to post this here. Anyway, I would love to know how you all found the engagement ring that you want. I''m really struggling to find anything that I even like. My boyfriend and I have spent many hours looking at rings online. We''ve also gone into several different stores so I could try things on, but we''ve had no luck finding anything special.

We''re both frustrated that we can''t find the perfect ring. There''s always something I don''t like about each one I look at. The good thing is we do know exactly what kind of diamond we want to get. We just have to somehow locate a setting that is exactly the way we want it. Please share any advice or websites you know that have lovely rings. I know there are probably plenty of sites that I don''t know about. Thanks.

Hi RebelGirl and welcome!

Tell us more about the kind of diamond you like so that we can make some suggestions for possible settings.

Thanks for the quick replies.

KittyBling, I have decided to go with a classic 1 carat round diamond. I''m thinking VS2 clarity and G/H color. I''m not super picky so I doubt I''ll get an ideal cut, but we''ll see what we can find. I do want a squared off halo and more diamonds along the band, but I''m still not sure exactly how I want them to look. That''s really all I''ve come up with so far. I have considered having the ring custom made, but that would probably be a last resort. I''ve just heard a lot of horror stories of people who have been extremely unhappy with their custom rings. I''m going to look through the thread that lucyandroger posted and hope for some inspiration and ideas.

It actually sounds like you're describing Beau13's ring. Try doing a search for that and see what you think.

ETA: Here's a link to the halo thread, which has some great halos (including b.anna's which may just be my current favourite for what you're describing): Linky!

Wow! These links are just what I needed to brighten my day. Keep them coming.

I was starting to give up hope that I would be able to find anything like I wanted. What do you ladies think of the idea of us buying a diamond online and then having it set here where we live? Is this a good idea? We''ve found a great local jeweler that we would love to work with, but I keep hearing that we can save so much money by buying online. My boyfriend has not given me a budget. He just wants me to have any ring I want, but I am trying to be money conscious. I don''t want him to spend more money than he needs to. So what is the best way to proceed and still get the best bang for our buck?

Unless you're dead set on working with a local jeweler for the setting, I'd contact someone like Brian Gavin. Just shoot them an email and tell them your diamond specs and rough budget and see what they come up with. They sell beautiful H&A diamonds at a competitive price. They can also make you a custom setting. Perhaps you could email them an inspiration picture and see if they can recreate that or come up with something better. They've done plenty of custom work for Pricescoper's.

Have a look at their website and go through the archives down the right hand side where you can see the various custom projects they have done. You can also search for them on here and read all the feedback.

Try Mark Morrell as well, search on here then check out his site for his awesome custome work. Can''t wait to get the ball rolling on the ring he designed for me, I''m beyond excited!

I am definitely checking into the links that were posted. Thanks for helping me out so much.
