As most of you know, SO and I celebrated our 5th anni this weekend! We started on Thursday night(the actual day) and went through Sunday evening. We were going to go for late night sushi, but SO was running very late (hard to get out of DC because of traffic), which was fine because I got to watch all of Grey''s before he got here!

He arrived at the door with a beautiful bouquet of Sunflowers, which I thought were PERFECT for a fall anniversary. Sunflowers just look like big smiley faces to me! We ran out and got some food, wine and a short movie, and watched that on the couch before crawling into bed.

We were up early the next morning and drove down to Myrtle Beach. We checked in to our accomodations and neither of us were thrilled with the place. We had found it using timeshare, but because it was the off season, there were tons and tons of cheaper places right on the beach that we could have stayed at. Oh well. It DID have a nice big whirlpool jacuzzi tub, however!

When we go there, SO was tired, and insisted that we nap a bit, which we did. Then I got up and showered and shaved, then woke SO up to do the same, telling him that I wanted to go somewhere. He was grumpy, but I insisted, because I was surprising him with a couple''s massage

at our resort. The massage was fantastic, and I had no idea how much tension I was carrying in my back and shoulders! SO loves massages, so he was very tickled by the surprise massage, and was very happy that I insisted on the shower! When we went back to the room, we used the internet to explore what was going on in the area. I also made him open one of his gifts, the personalized bottles of champagne. He almost wouldn''t agree to drinking one, lol, but I talked him into it.

We picked a place for dinner, the very cute Sea Captain''s House restaurant, but when we got there, the wait was 1.5 hrs! Amazingly, SO didn''t bulk at all. We walked the streets for a bit, then went down to the ocean and stuck our feet in and took some silly pictures as the sun was setting. It was lovely. Then we returned to the restaurant and ordered glasses of wine from the bar and sat to wait. SO decided to start reading the menu with a South Carolina accent, but he sounded more like a cross of Billy Bob Thornton from Slingblade and Forest Gump. Needless to say we were laughing and laughing. Our waitress was great, our food was great, and we made it back to the room in time to see the last hour of the first presidential debate. (Romantic, I know! lol) SO was laying back on the bed, then pulled out a jewelry box, which he tossed to me as he pronounced that it wasn''t an engagement ring. (Duh!) He said he didn''t want me to be confused, which is why he tossed it. (men!) It was a pair of diamond hoop earrings, which I love! I am HUGE on earrings, and feel naked without them. He also let me know that he ordered tickets for us to go to the Maxwell concert that I am dying to go to, so I was THRILLED! We then watched a LOT of political commentary over champagne, lol, then popped in a DVD and closed out the night.

On Saturday, we did breakfast out before heading to the beach to play in the waves and the sand. We were acting like little kids and had a fantastic time. Then we went back to the resort and floated around in the lazy river and lounged in the hot tub. Back to the room to clean ourselves up, and get dressed and we went to a huge seafood buffet and stuffed ourselves silly. We came back and enjoyed wine and the jacuzzi tub by candle light before watching half of a movie and turning in.

Sunday, we had to check out

so we were up early. We took advantage of that opportunity to go jetskiing before it got too hot. We had a blast laughing and screaming and squealing (ok, maybe I was making most of the noise) as we zipped around the ocean and bounced off of waves. We cruised the street looking for a place to eat lunch, and ended up getting Indian food before hitting the road to head home. We picked up the dog and ordered pizza and watched The Golden Compass, which I have been wanting to see. My last gift for SO, which arrived 1 day too late, was a 2 piece interlocking ring, which I gave to him, and explained how it symbolized how perfectly we fit together, etc. He was all smiles, and declared that he didn''t wear jewelry, but he would be wearing this. He then said that he was anxiously awaiting his e-ring, lol, and would put this one on his ring finger and wear it to work and tell everyone that he was engaged. He''s so silly. We sat there and cuddled, and thought about how crazy it was that we had been at the beach just that morning. More champagne to close out the weekend, and SO had to turn in. (he has to be at work at 6am) Before he went to bed, he asked me to tell him again about the significance of the ring.

I think he likes it, folks! Then we snuggled in for some rest.

We said our goodbyes EARLY this morning, and he headed off to work. Midday, a knock on my door from UPS, and a package.

I didn''t order anything. It was the peridot and diamond halo ring I had showed SO!

I started to cry thinking about how unbelievably over the top SO had been all weekend, paying for everything, and he didn''t even get to see the ring he got me. It was really a fantastic weekend. Definitely one for the books! I sent him some camera phone shots of the ring, and a little video. I guess I need to get my real camera so that I can post some PS pics

It was a perfect weekend.

What a wonderful anniversary weekend, Trillionaire! Your BF comes through again.

When do we get to see the peridot? It hopefully it won''t be long until it is complementing your trillion e-ring (which I cannot wait to see, either!).

And where are photos of the new earrings??

Absolutely beautiful! I like the photo with the corkscrew.

Congrats on 5 years. North Myrtle is an old favorite of mine. It sounds like you had a fantastic celebration weekend. The Admiral's Table in South Myrtle has great food too.
