Hello everyone,
I am in the process of getting my diamond upgrade at James Allen (this is where I have to shop). This is one I am interested in (2.50, G, si1) but it has indented naturals? Thoughts? I do worry about the integrity of the diamond and if it will be noticeable. The current diamond I have on hold (2.36, G, Si1) is another diamond but it has obvious specs in the middle. I do like flourescence. Let me know your thoughts on these 2 options. I’ve always been a sucker for G color VS2 but in my price Range I have to stick with si1

I'd much rather have a couple indented naturals than a couple visible black spots. It is a trade-off, Usually, it takes a very close examination of a diamond to see an indented natural. Generally, an admirer of the diamond won't inspect it like a gemologist would.

Ok, there are quite a few indented naturals in the 1 diamond, you don’t think it is a concern durability wise?

Can you put these stones on hold and provide the links. Its almost impossible to read the reports (or see the diamond).

I'm not a fan of the proportions on these. What is your budget? Can we help you find an alternative?

Sure help would be great. Under $ 20,000 is my budget. I have to stay with James Allen as I am doing a lifetime upgrade. I was wanting between 2.2-2.5 carats. I would have to sacrifice the color and clarity and size for this price range at James Allen it seems.

Take a look at this one.

Kim, I did ask to put that diamond on hold. So far it’s been the best option. It is cute with the little spec on it. The customer service Jeweler also showed me some decent igi earth created. Any thoughts in igi earth created? I’ve been afraid of looking at them for some reason from their reputation. She showed me some H color ones with vs2 and vs1 and 2.5carat but they looked so yellow to me. I am ok with a tiny yellow as my setting is yellow gold…I just don’t want the yellow color super noticeable. It did leave me a little more confused on what I want. This is a big deal as I don’t plan to upgrade again.
Also though the diamond I chose is 2.17 a bit smaller than I wanted for my anniversary/upgrade gift. I’ve been thinking that I would be willing to go with a lower color to get a better clarity to vs2 in my price range to get under 2.5-2.69 carat. As long as it is mostly eye clean and shines white. I am ok with a couple carbon spots here and there. Everything else I’ve looked at I saw way too many flaws (like feathers and needles throughout) unless they were igi. Still 2.2-2.69around there, maybe i or h color, vs2 and under 20k. This is my setting. I would enjoy to hear your expertise thanks :)IMG_5600.png

I recommend avoiding IGI for natural diamonds. GIA and AGS are much more reputable.

Have you seen any GIA or AGS-graded H or I ideal cut diamonds in person? Some people are surprised at how white they face up when they're well cut.

This stone may be a good option.

Wow that one is pretty. I have not seen that one. I love the specs, do you think it will be noticeable from afar? Also I see an indented natural you think that’s ok? And the proportions and well cut? I want to call them and have them hold it…they’re probably sick of me by now ahahaha

It looks well cut to me. Definitely put it on hold while you're thinking about it. Are you located in the U.S. where it would be easy to return if you don't like it? I think it's worth bringing home to view it in person.

Thank you for your help again. I’m in the us. They are not local to me and I have to wait anyways since I sent in my trade in.

I do want to share that I finally received the 2.17ct diamond this week and I Love it! Though it is alittle smaller than what I originally wanted…I’ve definitely gotten used to it. Thanks again for everyone’s help. And here it is :) IMG_5805.jpeg
