My fi and I have had really good progress with our DW planning. It took us a couple months to really make up our minds on when and where, but the ball is now rolling!
Our wedding will be on March 10th 2007 at Kona Village on the beach around 5:15 in the evening.

Since we're doing a family only DW we're keeping the 'big wedding' budget and using it to have a very fancy little wedding. (T.G. we both only have parents and one married sister). Basically the wedding budget (i.e. my father) is paying for all five couples to stay at the nice ocean front hales for an extended weekend. My father is also using his zillions of ff miles to get everyone out there. Frighteningly enough the hales are taking most of the budget, but since Kona Village is all inclusive it really helps everyone else out money-wise.

The wedding package at KV is perfect! Pretty much all we have to decide is what color and type of flowers do we want and what flavor cake! It's going to be a very flower heavy wedding, though.

The only thing it doesn't come with is hair/makeup and dinner. But since dinner is already included in the room price, we'll just have to pay a small fee to have a private set up with a decorated table on the beach.

There's been a bit of a wedding coordinator magical chairs, though. I called and exchanged emails with this nice lady before we decided on KV, but when I called to book she had left! A couple of days later I get contacted by their new coordinator who used to be there old one, and we had a great conversation about details and I made all the preliminary arrangements. A week later I get an email from the new new KV coordinator telling me the 10th is still available if I want it.

I emailed the new new lady but haven't heard back yet, so I'm going to call her later today. I feel confident everything's ok, and while this is a bit irritating it's been the only glitch.

While I haven't told my beloved yet... I've decided on what he's going to wear.
31.gif
Tommy Bahamas silk shirt in white/cream with some kind of subtle Hawaiian print, and Tommy Bahamas silk shorts in a light tan/natural. Like what travelinggirl's hubby wore, at least on the top.

Things left to do:
1) book honeymoon hotel (we're staying for three more nights)
2) get hold of new new coordinator
3) decide on flowers and cake.
4) lose weight and get into shape. *sigh* not going so well yet.

5) find perfect dress - really not going well yet.

probably because of #4

6) Get just-married beach wear. I want those sandals!
7) Choose and order wedding announcements. -there's no way I'm passing up the chance to pick out stationary!!

You just gotta love this DW with no extra guest thing! It's soooooo mellow. We just want this to be as happy, joyful, and stress-free as possible!

ETA: well the pics of the site didn't comeout right so here's a photo of us from his phd graduation:

Yay! I didn''t know you were doing a destination wedding. How fun!

The pictures came up only as gray boxes on my computer, though. Sadness!

I''m glad things are going well. I hear you on the #4 on your things left to do list. Tell me why my dress still thinks it can be resistent to zipping all the way up in the back? It and my rear need to become better friends. I can only eat Special K so many times a day.

By the way, I love *off* times for weddings, as in not at 2pm, but instead 2:15, etc. Paul refused that request, though. Oh well, I still got the morning wedding, but just at a "more normal time." Haha.

Aww, cute picture! I had been wondering what an Indiegirl looked like! Oh yeah! I remember all the stress leading up to his graduation. Bet you''re both THRILLED that''s over, huh?

Oh G. yes! Talk about Ph.d hell!! I''ve told him he''s absolutely forbidden to ever get another Ph.d. He''s contemplating a Master''s in Physics though. *sigh*

Oh, and other updates: He''s officially moved in to my house. (the first amazon package arrived) The place still looks like a wreck but all in all everything is going wonderfully. Our cats are starting to get along and hissing/yowling is much rarer, although the dog may develop a nervous tick from three irritable cats running about.

I started WW but I just haven''t kept it up. I did lose some weight on it though.

I''m very happy to see that things are coming along for you. I just love Hawaii and the Kona Village Resort will definitely be a place to remember by everyone! For makeup and hair - there is a salon in Kona called Icicles and the owner''s name is Shaloma. I have seen pics of her work and it is amazing. I didn''t use her because our wedding was in Waikaloa (too far north) in the morning and I figured the Hilton''s salon would be fine - and it was - but in hindsight I wish I would have hired Shaloma to come to our wedding site and do my makeup. The pics I''ve seen of her work are much better than what mine was. Also, you might consider honeymooning at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. You can check out pics at my wedding slideshow (I don''t know how to post pics) http://www.eyeexpression.com/slideshows/jenniferlawrence.html

Indie,
congrats!!! what a dream wedding,

LOL-I like that Amazon packages arriving for him is your criteria for it being official! Your plans sound wonderful!

Congrats on the progress!

Thanks Robbie!

Yes, we''re Amazon addicts. Go Prime!

This is OT for Fisher: There''s lots of cooked sushi! Good beginner sushi are california rolls (fake crab (fish), avocado, and cucumber), Tamago (sweet omelet), Unagi (Grilled fresh water eel with a yummy sauce), veggie rolls (great first venture), and even philly rolls (cream cheese and smoked salmon... surprisingly yummy). The best starter raw fish sushi is yellowtail or tuna. yummmm.

Looks like things are falling into place. I see now that we are much the same in our wedding vision...DW...close family attendees and as stress-free as possible. Keep us posted!

Jennifer: your makeup looks great! But thanks for the tip on Shaloma!

We're definately thinking of the Hilton village for our honeymoon. I'm waiting to hear back on where his parents are staying. He wants to be not too far away so we can do a few things with them.

I've found this place that makes very interesting dresses. And even better they do custom design work. I've had the worst time finding something I like. I want to feel like a beautiful princess but without feeling like I'm wearing armour.

I've been thinking that maybe a laceup back might help with any last minute weight loss. (crossing fingers). I'm hoping to be a size 12 by my wedding. It should be very doable even without being perfect.

I'd love your opinions!
Option 1: simple strapless... wouldn't be in shiny fabric though.

Option 2:

Or a custom based on Option 3:

Here are bigger pics: here
They have a limited number of the embroideried bodices in various silk blend fabrics. (that one isnt' silk it's a tencel blend which I hate). I love love the sleeves. And I would totally have a simple a-line skirt rather than what ever the heck that is.
5.gif
An idea I had is to make a princess-seemed A-line dress out of soft silk blend (maybe jaccquard with fern pattern) with the lace up back, have that style sleeves and basically the same style of bodice but without the embroidery. I love the idea of the fabric which is this silk-hemp blend.
What do you guys think? Would one of these look good on a well-endowed curvy if a bit plump 34 yr old on a beach?

And the best part? They're local! here

ETA: oh think bottom of sholder-blade length quite wavey dark brown with honey (and a bit of silver *sigh*) hair in a simple style with the front portions pulled back but the back loose and flowers woven in.

Indie:
Love your plans, your wedding will be just fabulous. I also am planning a DW so know how it goes!

Dress picking can be done while you are losing weight, have fun with it! Pick styles you like, try them on to get a feel for look, your body type will not change greatly with weight (especially since you are not seriously overweight) and it will help you decide.

I''m also trying to drop some and I recommend you drink oodles of water, it really helps! Drink at least 64 to 80 ounces a day (flavor it with a little fruit juice, lemon or crytal light) I''ve lost 10lbs in a month by doing that and just watching what I eat and I don''t eat after 8PM. Also, eat smaller portions four or five times a day, instead of the 3 squares. A little light excercise like walking helps too!

Best of wishes to you both!

Indie--I love your wedding locations. I've been looking at Kona Village for years. You'll definitely have to post after you get back.

On the dresses, I think you need to go to some stores and try things on to get a better feel for what styles look good on you before you would have anything custom made. I completely understand your desire not to wear "armor" especially in a tropical locale like Hawaii. But the true wedding dresses (and other well tailored dresses) have "structure" to them which camoflauge a lot of sins (and structure doesn't have to mean heavy). The first 2 dresses you posted would most likely be rather unforgiving to those with any extra lumps and bumps. I was a curvy size 12 when I got married and dresses like those were not very flattering on me. The last dress is interesting...almost reminds me of a medival themed dresses but I'd definitely want to try in on first. From a seamstress standpoint, the dresses don't look well tailored. I see puckering seams and poor fit.

Another good option for you would be to shop the better department stores and look at the white/cream/ivory dresses or even bridesmaid dresses at regular bridal shops.

On the weight loss note, I've been doing Weight Watchers online since the end of August and I've lost 15 pounds. It's been fairly easy. I like the online version of WW because it makes it super easy to track what I eat and I don't have to go to the meetings which I would hate. I've also done all of the weight loss with diet only...zero true exercise. I keep having hopes of getting in regular exercise but so far I haven't figured out how to get it in my schedule. I've done South Beach which was successful but a lot more work. WW is much easier because it's mostly about portion control. I was a size 12 and now I am an 8 so it did work.

Good luck!
