I would like a new purse. I don''t have the money for anything fancy..the most I''ve ever spent on a purse is prolly $20 at Kmart or Walmart. I''ve been using big diaper bag/totes the last few years that I got from a woman on ebay who makes them, and they work fine when I have a lot of stuff to carry, but the kids are older now and I don''t really need to haul our lives around in 1 bag so much anymore. Come to think of it..those diaper bags were about $40..so ok, I guess I''ve spent more than $20 on a bag before.

The purse I have now, my mom gave me about 2 years ago. It''s about 11" long on the bottom and 14" long on top, 8" high and 4 1/2" wide. It works fine..just has extra pockets on the outside I don''t use, and the bottom is kind of ratty b/c I set in on the stove one day last year, along w/one of the diaper bags and somehow managed to turn one of the dials for a burner..so yeah, that was interesting. (Why does it smell like something''s burning in here??? Oh, gee b/c my purse and diaper bag are almost on fire)

Otherwise, I''ve only bought 1 purse since..2000 I think. It''s Army camo..I''m 35 now..Army camo doesn''t really do it for me anymore. I wouldn''t know trendy if it bit me in the butt; I just want something that will look nice, so I won''t look like I''m trying to be a teenager (Army camo) and something that hasn''t been set on fire.

If I post some links will you guys look and tell me what you think? I know they''re not the bags I''ve seen here..and maybe next Christmas we''ll have a little extra and I can have fun getting help finding a more expensive bag, but for now anyway, this will have to do.

This is what I have now.

What''s your budget?

Ooo I got sidetracked and wandered away! Um..like under $100. Way under if possible. I found some at Kohl''s and ebags. (I found that place in Tgal''s thread about a cheap purse from a few years ago haha)

These are the ones I found. We have a Kohl''s about an hour away so I could try them on since they don''t have the pictures like ebags does.

leather bucket

Relic hobo

Relic satchel

Chaps herringbone

Croft & Barrow satchel

Relic shopper

Nine West hobo

Nine West satchel

Mint bag

The last 2..I wonder if the 2nd to the last is too big and if the last one is too small/thin.

Nine west Hobo and the Relic Hobo is pretty cute! I love hobo bags, as it slouches perfectly and looks cute!

Thanks D&T and Dani! Those were the 2 I was leaning towards-the Nine West one moreso I think. Do you think brown or khaki in that one? The choice for black/ivory must be sold out..ha, that''s probably the one I''d''ve picked if it were available.

That''s a cool purse you got Dani! We''re going to the city in a couple weeks so I can check it out!

I like the Khaki/java or the Brown/Black (middle option) Super Cute~~

Go to your local Marshalls or TJ Maxx. I hadn''t bought a purse in five years & got TWO a couple of weekends ago. Both were $250+ retail marked down to under $100. One is a Lucky Brand suede hobo & one is gorgeous grape jam smooshy leather cross body bag with equestrian styling/ silver-tone hardware. Its pretty easy to distinguish the "better" bags from the super cheapo ones. And I swear they''ve been getting better stuff due to the recession -- glam dept. stores not ordering as much -- manufacturers left reeling.

I''m thinking the khaki..I like that there''s a picture so I can see what it might look like on.

The closest TJ Maxx or Marshalls is 2 1/2 hours away--yikes!! Ahhh the sucky part of living in the middle of nowhere raises it''s head haha! There''s a Gordman''s in the city..is that like those other 2 stores?

I ordered the khaki Nine West hobo! Thanks for the help guys!! I think for only $40 I will have a purse that looks waaay nicer than my Kmart red tag sale purses hehe!

That sucks! Those stores, and Ross, are the best place to find inexpensive purses.

I really like the one you ordered though!

Dani-your new avatar makes me smile-he''s just so precious!

Lily-I guess this just means next time we can make it to Omaha we need to allow extra time for visits to those stores-hehe! We did used to have a TJ Maxx by the mall, but it closed down a couple years ago. Sucked too b/c I got a lot of deals there!

JD just informed me he likes the brown one better..figures. Well, the khaki was the result of my eeny meeny miney mo game..maybe he''ll get me a brown purse too!

That''s my nephew. I love him to pieces!!!!

Too funny on the color. Hey, Christmas is right around the corner...

I remember him from the thread of him eating the bear-too cute!

I''ve never had a khaki purse before..always brown or black so I thought I''d be different. I hate when I second guess my choice-it''s not like he''s going to use it so I guess it doesn''t matter if he likes it or not eh? There''s a fabric on etsy I like that I thought would make a pretty purse too...maybe Christmas will be a purse fest!

NOM the bear! LOL.

I''m slowly getting more into purses. I was going to buy a Coach a while back, but couldn''t find one I was willing to spend the money on. Meh.

I''m seriously in love with this Simply Vera bag though. They have it in red/black.... I sense a purchase for the upcoming Holiday season...

I change my purses around a lot..or I did when I had several anyway..so I wonder if I''d get bored w/just 1 $500 purse, vs 5 $100 purses. I do enjoy following the links posted tho b/c dang-some of them are gorgeous! I guess I''ll live vicariously thru everyone else!

Yeah, this is pretty much my problem. At this point, I''m definitely slowing down on switching out bags. I really want a nice designer bag, but am scared to buy one because I might get bored of it. So I''m trying to train myself

Exactly! And plus..I''ve set one on fire before, so I''m not sure I''m adult enough to have a big girl purse. I have to play in the Pee Wee leagues for a while longer.

I''m still not sure how you managed the burning of the purse, LOL! I''m pretty hard on mine too, but not quite THAT hard!

hehehe it''s a talent I guess. Actually when I was hauling my bags in (cuz it would be bad to make more than 1 trip you know..better to load yourself down so you can barely walk) I kinda threw just flung them all up on the stove and counter, and I think b/c there were so many heavy bags, it was enough to push the burner knob. I''m just odd I guess!

Too funny. Here''s hoping your new bag does not share the same fate.

haha thanks! maybe this one is flame retardant.
