Hello there,

I have a loose diamond that I want to insure before sending to my setting vendor. The vendor I want to work with offers insurance coverage during fabrication for only their own stones.
I wanted to be on the safe side so I reached out to JM. I just received their response "We received your request to insure a loose stone. Our policy is intended to cover complete jewelry items."
Have you been in a similar situation before? Which insurance vendor should I work with in my case?

Any ideas are appreciated!

I had JM insure my loose stone as I took possession of it and delivered it to the company making a setting. This was in 2017.. strange to me...

I thought it was strange too... so I responded to them with a bunch of questions

any update?

I am curious to this answer as well. I can add to homeowners insurance under separate rider, but want my stone covered whether loose/set or having work done.
I am in USA.

Yes, they got back to me. You were right they insure loose stones. I'm just waiting for them to approve my images I submitted via their phone app.
The person I spoke with originally must have been new/confused.

JM and most other insurers write policies for a year and charge the entire year in advance. If you cancel before it's complete they'll refund any unused portion of your premium. In effect, that's what you're looking for isn't it? Call them to discuss it. Your request is slightly outside of the norm and the online form may not accommodate it.

I'm on the same boat and they refused my application. My record were clean so it wasn't the case for the refuse. I'm not sure if the price affected their decision ? Anyone has experience with this ? Thanks
