Hello ladies! I figured I should introduce myself since I was added to the LIW list. 
I'm 23 years old and my man is 23 as well. We both turn 24 this spring and have been dating for 5 years and 3 months. I was never that girl that dreamt about her wedding or even marrying the perfect man. I found the perfect man over 5 years ago and we've been dating and getting along perfectly ever since. Back in the day when we talked about marriage we figured it'd be good to get engaged after we both graduated college. I am going to graduate this spring and he has decided to work instead of continue his schooling. I should have graduated in 2009 buttttt, life gets in the way sometimes!
At any rate, somehow I randomly started thinking about getting engaged last year. I slowly developed into a slightly psycho LIW. The last 5 or 6 months have left me longing for a ring. I didn't really mention it to him until August. I hoped that maybe he would surprise me with a ring (our 5 year anniversary was in November). No ring. I got a bit crabby. I continued looking at rings online (in secret, of course!) until late December when I kept telling him and telling him that I WANT a ring ASAP. He told me he knew that and was working on a proposal and saving up.
I've been lurking around these forums for a while now. I'm just trying to learn about diamonds and research so we can eventually get a very nice ring even though our budget is not large at all. We did look at rings (at Helzberg, but just for poops and giggles... we'd never buy from there). Luckily, my best friend's family is in the jewelry business so we are going to buy from them and get a good deal. The only catch is that we have to wait until my best friend has a day off when we do and then drive the two hours to the jewelry store and if I find something I want then we have to wait and wait and wait...
Even though I know a ring is in the nearish future it is still driving me mad. I sound like a brat! I don't mean to! I just want people to know that I have found the most amazing man and start our lives together!
