Hello all! I''ve been a lurker for 1 1/2 years, and now that my time is drawing near (I think!), I figured I''d make an account
BF/FF and I have been together 2.5 years. We recently made a cross-country move together, he started working as a pharmacist, and I started law school (ugh). Our relationship became "serious" about a year in, and since that time, the wheels have been turning (albeit, slowly)
Now, however, they''re turning at the speed of light. Due to recent marriages/engagements of friends and family, I started dreaming of sparkly things and a long, loving life together. He''s been GREAT at ignoring my constant comments and dealing with my badgering, watches Bridezillas/Say Yes to the Dress with me, and has taken lots of time to look at rings that I like. I''m constantly reminding myself that A. We''re paying student loans B. Rings are expensive, and C. We couldn''t get married until after law school (3.5 years)
Then this week "happened" (And let me preface this by saying in my first life, I must have been a detecive... I''m a natural snoop)
1. There was a water bottle in his car from a jeweler (the #1 ranked jeweler in the big city we live in). He told me they sponsored something for his work (yeah right... jewelry and pharmaceuticals don''t go together)
2. There are 7+ calls to/from a certain number on his cell, which he told me was work-related, but is ACTUALLY the SAME jeweler... hmm...
3. My sapphire ring went missing, and two days later re-appeared.
4. I tried to use his laptop today & he yanked it from me, asking "What are you doing!?" He clicked around a bit, then handed it back, saying "I needed to check the internet connection..." When he wasn''t looking I checked his recent searches: Great Proposal Ideas.
5. I, naturally, called my mother to discuss these clues. She scolded me and said, "Well, he hasn''t asked me for permission" Later, she relayed my story to my father who responded with a smirk, "Who says he hasn''t talked to me about it?"
6. Tonight I picked up our mail & there was a plain-jane-credit-card-statement-looking thing with his name on it. I DIDN''T open it, but on the back of the envelope it said, "Go online for easy bill pay!" with the name of a lesser-known financial institution... Just so happens it''s the institution through which said jewelry store issues its credit cards.
I''m an awful, snooping, nosey, anxious GF- It''s terrible, I know. And I REALLY hope I''m not psyching myself out for something that really isn''t happening (but it sure seems like it''s happening, right?) Now I''m left wondering when on earth The Question will be popped, and haven''t a clue. I don''t feel that I spoiled the surprise for myself: I''m still totally flabbergasted. I honestly didn''t think this would be happening for at least another year and a half.
But anyways: That''s my story. I''ve loved reading everyone else''s and will continue to do so This forum is such a fantastic place!
