Hey girls! I haven''t been on in a while ... mostly because of my vacation last week and being really busy/stressed out with work. I''m trying to catch up on where everyone is at and looking at all of the pics from recent weddings. Congrats to everyone who got married in the past month or two! I''ve been very delinquent on commenting on the picture threads.

Anyway, I had to come on and vent about my invitation issues with people who would understand. I''ve been working with the company "Invitations by Dawn" because they seemed cheap and had cute designs. I didn''t want anything fancy, just something nice and reasonably priced. I found cute ones with fall leaves that had a little something special (I like the paisly pattern in the leaves):
http://www.invitationsbydawn.com/We_ViewEns.cfm?sItemCode=WedEns8167&sCatalogCode=WedEnsDD&iStartRow=1&format=WedEnsDDa&lCriteria=247&strcontinue=yes&strsearch=yes
I ordered them on 6/27, thinking that would be plenty of time for my 9/25 wedding. Well, after at least 4 proof iterations, it was already early August

Basically, I just wanted them to change the spacing between the lines on the invites, but they consistently got it wrong (at least they didn''t charge me for every set of proofs). At this point, they were pretty late, so I changed the response date from 8/25 to 9/1 to give people at least a week or two.

Finally they got them right after some phone calls and mailed them out on 8/3. I didn''t realize how far away the company was and was shocked to find out they wouldn''t arrive until 8/10, when I was on vacation!

So I get back from vacation on 8/15 and am all ready to mail these suckers out. I open the box to find that they sent all 100 invites, envelopes, etc, but only 25 ribbons to tie the invites together with
29.gif
So FI and I run to the fabric store and just happen to find exactly the same ribbon and get everything assembled to mail on Monday, 8/17. Phew.

I thought everything was taken care of and I could finally relax. Then last night, FMIL calls and says that "transportation" is misspelled on the last page of the invite. Thinking it''s a little thing, I grab an inite and it''s spelled "transportiontion"

I was trying to be calm about the whole thing, but I can''t help feeling really let down now ... I''m so not a wedding person and the only reason I''m doing this is because I want a party with my friends. I''m pretty sure if we eloped, I''d be stress free, but I would probably regret not being able to share it with so many friends who we love. But this whole thing just turned me off the whole wedding thing again and bummed me out
7.gif
I''m not super upset about it or anything ... bummed out is really the best expression. When I see how much of a discount they''re willing to refund me, we''ll see if my mood turns around

If you read my whole rant, thank you for listening! Just had to tell someone and my co-workers probably wouldn''t care. They''re mostly men, I can''t blame them
2.gif
And I really wouldn''t recommend this invitation company ... unless you leave lots and lots of time for them to do things over and get it perfect. And if you''re a better proof-reader than I am (though I''m usually really good at spotting errors!)

As FI pointed out, our favors (pint glasses with a logo inspired by the Guiness logo) came in and are super cool. At the end of the day, people won''t remember the invites, but they will remember the awesome pint glasses that they get to take home with them
1.gif

Wow! Sorry that happened to you! But like you said, they''ll remember the pint glass more than the invite!! Hopefully they''re refund some of your money. Wasn''t there some kind of spell check in their software program?

Oh, el, I'm so sorry. That stinks. I was thinking about going that direction by using just a simple company with simple, bulk invitations too for our home reception. And I remember that company. I just can't believe any company would send that out. Does nobody there even look at it??? That's just ridiculous.
38.gif
They should definitely refund you the money.

On the brighter note... no, no one's going to remember a mis-spelling in the invitations. But those cool little favors will definitely be remembered! Care to post a pic/link of them? I'd love to see them.

That does totally suck, you should get a good chunk of your money back IMO! But no one will even remember the invite after your wedding. They will remember you in your beautiful dress, how you both looked at each other during the ceremony, the food and the fun! So no worries, sweetie!

Pint glasses are an awesome favor!! Glad you like those!

Don''t be too bummed about the invites. Was "transportation" spelling correctly on your last proof? If so, I would demand my money back!

If it makes you feel better, my friend made her own invitations, and misspelled her OWN NAME. She laughed it off. nobody cared. If someone noticed, they thought it was funny.

That being said, I would not let this go because you actually paid someone to do yours. Even without the misspelling, they should refund you for the delays and the ribbons!

Oh my gosh--this should totally be one of your trivia questions! And the only acceptable answer would be "transportiontion"--make a joke of it. . .but definitely get your money back. I understand why you are upset, though. That is incredibly frustrating and I cannot believe they didn''t catch it.

Aw, sorry for all the frustrations! No worries though, people won''t remember :)

Thanks ladies! It''s great to have brides to vent about this stuff with.

Luckyeshe - I agree ... I can''t believe they don''t have spell check! It''s not like they misspelled one of the hard words or something (ok, they did, but I caught those in the first proof).

Luvthemstrawberries - Here''s the thread with my favors. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/favors.118781/ If I get around to it I''ll take some pictures and put them up. They''re super cool

Kind of expensive, but I think it''s worth it in the end.

rhbgirl24 - Thanks! And I sure do hope I get a good chunk of money back ... still waiting for the supervisor to call me.

Amanda.Rx - I can''t look at my last proof because it automatically updates the website with your latest proof. I feel like I would''ve noticed at some point if it was wrong all along ... I''ll have to see what the company says about it.

choro72 - lol I checked both of our names obsessively to make sure those at least were correct
2.gif
And they have promised to refund me something, but I don''t know how much yet. It better be significant.

katamari - lol at the trivia idea. That''s a good one! I''m definitely running that by FI.

That''s gotta be frustrating. I hope for your sake you get something out of it. Let them know how disappointed you have been, and make sure they know if they don''t correct things, you are going to be letting people know publically about your bad experience. Make them feel it where it hurts...the wallet.

Not much you can do now... so why not make a joke of it... if anyone brings it up, and say.. you''ve been drinking already? Glad I''m providing you some transportation to and from!

I''m sorry, because that does stink. I hope you get $$ back... and even with the error, you can still have a great time with your friends.

LOL! I like your friend. That sounds like something I would (and may still yet!) do myself.

El, that is really frustrating. Hopefully they'll give you money back for being so careless.

UPDATE: The invitation company offered me 50% of my money back plus the cost of shipping. They were very nice about it and very willing to give me the 50%. I can''t say I''d work with them again, but I have to give them credit for trying to make things right.

I''m glad it worked out!

I''m certain you will look back on this and giggle. It''s such a terrible misspelling, not even close!

On the plus side, your invites look like they''d be pretty, plus you got them for half off. Good for you.

I''m sorry this happened, but like others said, there''s nothing to be done now. I''m sure the misspelling will be the last thing on people''s minds at your wonderful wedding!
