I need help!!! (again :))

I can''t decide for the life of me what I want to do. Buy them, DIY, semi-DIY!??

I have plenty of time if I went the DIY route. I''m just afraid I''m not "crafty" enough and I go, buy all the supplies and the hate the end result. I think I am somewhat crafty and I defintiely do pay attention to deatil and wouldn''t mind spending hours because I do like crafts!. I''m just nervous about it for some erason. I wouldn''t even know where to start!!.

I want to keep it at about $3.00 per invite. I know that sounds a little crazy but I think it could be done. I don''t have to have a pocketfold, but would like some sort of enclosure or covering.

Since I don''t really have a "color theme" I want to keep with my general theme (old european, spanish, vintage looking).

Any ideas? should I just find a vendor and forget all the pain?. If so, do you recommend any? is there a semi-DIY way? If so, where do I begin and what do I need?

Thanks in advance!!!

Well, even though you didn''t ask, I CAN tell you that Wedding Paper Divas is GREAT to work with and their cards are very nice quality, esp. for the price. We got our STD cards and invites from them and were very pleased.

I personally think that with everything else going on it is too much to DIY, unless you really really want to, or stand to save a lot of $. But my time is worth more to me than pockets!

haha Neatfreak! Thanks :))

All the invites I posted are actually from paperdivas! I''m sure you could tell...hehe. I am confused though, do you just order the invitation and it is just on plain layer inside an envelope?. Don''t you have to set it on something?

Hi Mandarine,
We did partial DIY (meaning assembly and printing, which we had done at a local offset printers, not at home)
I am a scrapbooker and found the assembly part fun, but glad I didn''t go the 100% diy route, mainly for time.

Ours were about 3.00 per invite plus the printing costs which were under $50

We used www.invitesite.com

they have many different styles of beautiful invites- many with handmade paper.

check them out!

they were fabulous to work with as far as customer service, i called and emailed with so many crazy questions before ordering, and they will provide samples as well.

we got the matching program kits for $1 each and they are just beautiful.

Here are our invites, but they have many different styles, ours is more rustic but they have modern ones as well

Thank you Labbie!
Did you have to do any cutting after printing?. Did you just go to a local place like Kinkos for printing or are there more specialized printing places?
I''ll check out that site! Thank you so much!!!

wow the one that is on sale (the yellow one) is so perfect (the pattern) but I don''t know if it seems to casual (it''s only $1.00 each!!). I just don''t think it would work. They do have some nice ones there, I might get some samples!

I defintiely wouldn''t mind semi-DIY. Any other sites or places I should look into?. In many sites I am just confused because they just sell the one layer. What am I suppossed to do with one layer? lol. I need step by step instruction

I did the same as labbielove. I also did partial DIY. I designed them and then took them to a local printer who does offset lithography and then had them cut. After I picked them up I backed them with linen paper and made DIT pocketfolds. I am still working on the invites but have finished the STD. When I get home I will try and post some pics. In total, after the invite and 3 enclosures and a STD, the total per invite was $3.12. Not too bad.

wow Blondie..that sounds like full-DIY!!!...lol. I''d love to see some pictures!!!.

These are not my STDs, but were my inspiration. I literally copied the design (font, color, etc) and just added a bright backing of either avocado green, yellow, or orange and changed the text. I will post mine when I get home.

Hi Mandarine! I am going through the same thing, and actually looking at some of the same invites you are from the same site. My ideal invites are from whiteaisle.com, but they are too expensive for us. I showed my fiance the invites at weddingpaperdivas, and he thought we could do the designs more ornately. You can buy some great invite kits from Office Depot that contain invites, envelopes, response cards, etc. for about $30 bucks for 50. We''ve thought about buying some neat floral or swirly stamps in a neat color. We''ve also thought about drawing an ornate design and just buying an all in one color printer and doing it that way...

There are some great rubber stamps at impressrubberstamps.com, and ljackson.com.

WPD''s invites are just that, cards. But I didn''t mind it at all actually. They still looked elegant, but then again, I am a no-frills kind of girl.

BUT, it would certainly be simple enough to stick the cards onto a foldable background of some sort. They actually would be pretty perfect for that too...you''d just have to get the folders elsewhere, like papersource.com.

Amber, thank you! I actually have seen these but don''t understand how it works!
How do you get the design printed on the paper? I like the design you posted!. I just don''t understand what they mean by just change text and print. Do they mean that the entire design will need to be printed (the flowers, etc)?

M,
They send the invite panels so that there are 2 per sheet (the full sheet is some odd dimension and I had the printer cut them after printing)
They also provide Word templates for all the invites/rsvp cards, placecards, etc.
It couldn''t have been easier, we just did the Word files and brought to the printer
Cutting was very cheap at the printers, also if you did at home you could have Staples do it.

Hey Mandarine, I think the whole thing comes up as a pdf file, and you just change how to word it, if you want. So you just have to get the paper. That''s what I understand, at least!

Thanks Amber, so I guess the designs prints on the paper?...if so, do I just go to Kinkos?

Sorry that may be a really stupid question...lol

I am getting excited at the prospect of doing this project myself. I enjoyed doing the SDTs and think I would enjoy this too, plus I have plenty of time! I just wish I could find more instruction and sites that offer a semi-DIY solution.

How do the stamps work?

Thanks again :)

M~

Madarine, the design totally prints on the paper, and from what I heard, you can take it to a kinkos place, too!

These look so so so professional!!!!!. I love them!I think I''m going to go to an invitation/scrapbooking store near by to see if tehy offer any help.

Did you cut every invite by your self?. I cut my SDTs, but they were a lot less!.

How did you know what kind of paper to buy and whether it would print well?. When I went to print my STDs at Kinkos they weren''t sure they could print on the paper I had selected.

many questions!!!!!!!

oh ok, that makes sense!!!

I love some of those designs! I wonder how much color printing will be...I''d have to factor that into the cost. I could do something with a cool design from that site and the use a pocketfold similar to what Charger used....

hmmmm, my creativity cells are waking up now!!!

Thanks Amber!!!

There are lots of wedding invitation sites online. Many different styles and options. Mine could not have been easier; ordered and received the next week. Try American Wedding Album (mine) or Rexcraft, just to name two.
