so we were just about to get those invitations when i just couldn''t bring myself to pay the price for them...and i thought since i know people don''t ever keep invitations why should i pay a fortune for them...so i talked to M and he was like EM your good at all that craft stuff how much would it cost to do them ourselves... at first i was like your kidding me...me making all those invites alone would take forever and he was like no i would help you and ill even convince the guys to come help too..(umm yea i know they wont help thats why i already called the girls in to help)

so i went to Michaels to see what they have and what things would cost...and this is what i came up with... its just a practice one so its going to look more cleaned up with i make them for real...

and heres the best part...for all 200 invites, response cards, and envelopes its only going to cost us $100

what do you guys think?

I think they''re very nice! What a great deal too. I have a question for you- is that grommet going through the ribbon or is the ribbon going through it? I can''t tell from the photo. If the grommet is going through the ribbon (thus sort of attaching it to the card) I would put the ribbon through it instead. I''m sorry if thats what you did and I just couldn''t tell from the photo.

I like the pink with black and white! The fonts you chose are nice too. Very chic.

its actually a brad ( i think grommets are too hard to work with)

but it goes through the ribbon and then through the pink paper which then goes on top of the black strip and so it doesn''t even tough the invitation so the brad is on top of all those layers..does that make sense?

That is a gorgeous invitation! I couldn''t even tell it was homemade until I read the post (after looking at the invite) I think that if you have the talent to make such a beautiful invite for such a great price why not! I wish I could be that crafty! And you are right I never keep any invites I get unless they are close family and it makes me sick to think that you pay so much to have them thrown away. Great Job!!

I enjoy fancy invites too, but honestly, it REALLY says a lot when someone is willing to put effort into making all of their own! I love it. I find that making them in sections really helps (ex: cut all ribbion and paper one night, print all text another, assemble all items another, address invites day after...) That way it''s soooo less stressful.. ! Good luck!

Those are really pretty! You did a great job of putting them together. Honestly, I think the brad looks a little strange but other than that they ROCK!

They look really great! I''m so impressed!

I see what you mean. A brad was my other thought but the reflection on the brad made it look like it was just a ring, not a whole circle so I guess thats what threw me off. Not to mention it as pretty late when I made the post.

I think that they look wonderful and that your guests will be very impressed!

oobiecoo- it does look a little funny in this trail one, but im trying to figure out how to make it look alot more cleaned up...i know i want something there cause it looks too plain without anything...

thanks everyone for all your comments it makes me feel a whole lot better about making them myself.

swedish bean- thats exactly what im doing lol. toady im off to buy all the paper Monday im going to start cutting all the big pieces and then the next all the small...basically do it all in steps....i have an entire month off of school to focus on wedding things and this is one of my top priorities...

How about a specialty brad? Maybe one with a rhinestone on it to add a little touch of bling? You could probably affix your own rhinestones or crystals to the regular brads or buy some with the rhinestones already on them.

I did a google search and found a few options for you but I''m sure there are many kinds of specialty brads outside of the plain silver or gold ones.

Some different shapes of brads

A variety of specialty brads. Some ''pearl'' and rhinestone options.

Pink Rhinestones! An eBay option. 50 for $3.75. I think this seller also will sell them in larger quantities.

Clear jeweled brads

i feel reallly accomplished i finished cutting all the black and white pieces for the invite and the response cards!! high five to me!!

Thats great! We do think alike! I can''t wait to see the finished product. You''ve inspired me to do more for my own invites than just a nicely printed card!

well im glad i inspired you lol...its actually really easy to do something a little fancy and just like M said "just cause your on a budget doesn''t mean you cant make something nice"

lets just say he was happy when i walked out of the store yesterday and i told him i only spent a whopping 61 dollars on all the material (besides envelops)!! thats 40 less then what i thought i would spend!!

What are the names of the fonts you used? I particularly love the font your names are in.

Congrats on only spending $61!! WOW!!

I think it looks lovely, and hey, you can''t beat the price!
