Okay folks, tell me if this 1) looks weird, and 2) if you would know what to do, and 3) if yes to 1 or no to 2, how to change

Kindly reply by the thirty-first of July

_______________________________

___ Joyfully accepts
___ Regretfully declines

Please initial entree selection: (there will be an accent over the 2nd "e" in entree fyi)

___ Beef
___ Chicken
___ Vegetarian

Okay, is asking to initial weird? Should I just put "indicate" instead of "initial?" Also, the blank line. Do I need to put M______________? Will people just leave it blank if I don''t have the M there? I prefer it without, but my mom thinks people will think it is just there for decoration!

Okay, and one last question. My ceremony and reception are at the same venue. So on the main invite, after the Mr. & Mrs. blah blah blah... I currently have "dinner and dancing to follow." Is that odd? I realize I could put "Reception to follow" but it just seems dry and I thought dinner and dancing was more festive and happy sounding. Ha. Any thoughts??

I have never understood what the M____________ was for...once I got a wedding invitation that didn''t have the __will attend or __respectfully declines but just a blank line???

I personally think indicate entree selection sounds better than initial...and maybe you could describe the entrees more, if your caterer gave you more...description?

and maybe you could say reception with dinner and dancing to follow? or just dinner and dancing? either way is fine IMO...

Thanks for the reply! the M____ is to start writing Mr. or Ms. whoever... but I just think it is stuffy or something... I would know what to do with a blank line, but maybe I''m in the minority.

I don''t know my final catering selections yet unfortunately, so beef/chicken/vegetarian is going to have to stay

I think I will switch it to "indicate" after all. Maybe I''ll just switch it to reception to follow too and just be done, gahhh!

Hi Magsy, don''t worry too much about the menu selections being vague - all people care about is the "meat" part of it anyway.

We had the same problem, no finalized menu options but needed to finalize invites...so we had the person making our invites include a small card with our website address on it, and once we pulled it together we put the full menu on the website.

I think indicate is better than initial (initial sounds like a contract:-)

A blank line is fine, but i might think it was for decoration.

Could you put name or something next to it so people know?

Dinner and Dancing to follow sounds fine IMO:-)

I think it is best to put the "M" to avoid any potential confusion. It is expected, so it won''t look odd to anyone. I also agree that "indicate" is a better word than initial, especially since some people will need to select multiple entrees. I think your "dinner and dancing" is fine.

Ditto to all of this.

We used "Name" instead of the M because I thought it looked weird. I always have, but I initially never knew what it was for. The rest of the wording sounds fine to me!

I agree with monkeyprincess, also.

I had wording exactly like this when I placed my invitation order. I now realize that you DO need to also include either:

M__________________________

Or

Name(s)___________________________

This is so you know who the reply card belongs to! Otherwise, there is no way to tell from looking at the reply card, who is actually RSVPing for your event. I have figured out that I am going to write the party name on the back of the reply card in small handwriting so I know who it belongs to to correct my mistake of leaving the above out. Hoping to save someone else from this mistake!!

If you think people may forget to write in their names, it''s a good idea to number the response cards. We did this for our wedding and for my bat mitzvah, and for both occasions we were glad we did!

I just wrote a small number in the bottom right hand corner of the back of each response card. It was super easy to do.

Is each guest given an individual response card? We only sent one with the invitations and, as yours stand, I would be unclear how to indicate multiple meals if my entire family was on the invite.
