Should I get an iPhone or an ATT&T Tilt? I can''t decide between the two. I have the older version of the ATT (the 8125 which doesn''t tilt). I''m wanting a new phone but it''s not imperative I get it immediately.
What I need:
QWERTY! I much prefer to text than talk on the phone (and for interpreting related stuff I gotta text). Both have it- the Tilt has a virtual and an actual button QWERTY, iPhone has virtual... I''m fine using either.
BIG screen for the net, email and text. Both have a large screen, though the iPhone''s is bigger but not so much bigger that it''s a deal breaker for the Tilt.
What I like:
Voice Dialing- love just clicking my bluetooth, saying a name and it dials... I don''t have to get the phone and select a #. The Tilt has voice dialing, the iPhone does not. So, if driving and making a call on the iPhone, I would have to click and select a phone # (typically from a favorites folder) and call. Not sure if the voice dialing is a deal breaker or not.
Voice GPS- I use Yahoo Maps on my current phone fairly often... The Tilt has voice GPS, the iPhone does not. The voice GPS would be really, really nice to have... it''s safer rather than looking down at directions, which is what I currently do. The Tilt''s GPS also will tell you points of interest, cheapest gas stations around you, etc.
Other Differences:
The iPhone is a tad thinner and well... it''s just so kewl! That multitouch touchscreen technology is amazing. Unfortunately, on the keyboard you have to go to a second page of the keyboard for punctuation- I''m thinking that might be annoying because "altho i abbrv. when i want 2 text, i punctuate!" and don''t want extra clicks when trying to quickly text- though, the tilt you have to shift to other characters anyway, so maybe it''s about the same level of annoyance. You also can''t type in landscape mode (the Tilt you can). I love the visual voicemail.
The Tilt has excellent call quality (better than the iPhone, I believe). It has microSD expansion slot like my current one does which I use for a digital Bible and for pictures and music. It has Mobile Office Suite- nice, but don''t use it a lot. Service is $60/month with unlimited text/net. (+ $10/mo. for GPS). ATT Music has streaming XM Radio (is there a fee for that?). Not sure the monthly cost on the iPhone.
What would you get? I need a lot of texting for work and I make a lot of calls while driving (though they are pretty much to the same small group of people).
