Irises

anyone besides me have irises in bloom? i''ve had rebloomers since august.....but i just today found another two stalks on another two plants!

i only do dutch iris but i love the range of blues in the bearded.

yes, i should''ve gotten it out more frequently this fall! some have looked even more gorgeous with the 2nd bloom!

my plan is to put together a catalog of my irises with pictures, description, year, and other trivia for my own pleasure and enjoyment. this camera will do exactly what i need.

i tried to attach a couple of pictures from a month or two ago but they''re too large for uploading to pricescope. i''ll get hubby to help me when he gets home and post a few for your viewing pleasure.

mara, i have two blues in bloom right now: Eleanor Roosevelt and Crimson Fire....yes, i know with a name like Crimson Fire it shouldn''t be blue....but it is and always has been since it was developed.

well, i now know why Crimson Fire is named that even though right now it looks blue purple: earlier this a.m. when i looked out the window the early morning light hit it just right and it was, yes, crimson fire!

I LOVE YOUR IRISES...

Irises have special meaning to me. On my first date with my hubby, he gave me 4 perfect blue irises.

After the date, I phoned home to my Mom and said, " Mom I really like this guy. He has class."

i used to take irises into work as cut flowers and people would come up and say ''oh, what beautiful orchids!'' they were blown away that irises could be ''so classy''! good taste, that man of yours, craftygirl!

ps i got my camera to assist with another project of mine: i''m going to catalog all my irises and include pictures, bloom dates, etc. not sure why i''m so keen to do this but i really do love my irises...so much so that i dug most of them up from my old house and moved them here to the new house last year. of course, i''ve added another 40 more since then.
