Haven't been actively checking this forum for a while, and I've noticed a lot more discussions and interest in assher! Is this cut finally becoming trendy?

I am considering trading my 3.6ct asscher for a 4+ emerald cut with better color. Does asscher outperform emerald in any aspect (e.g. light performance) and vice versa? Thank you!

Every stone is different depending on how well it is cut. Some asschers are great and many are not. Same with emerald cuts. You have to evaluate every stone individually, preferably by using an ASET scope to check light return. I do not see that asschers are becoming a trend. Most jewelry stores do not carry them or carry very few. Rounds, princess, cushions, and maybe emerald cuts are likely the top sellers.

I personally for me love emerald cuts but on other people. I have a well-performing asscher and I haven’t found an emerald cut yet that is blingy like my asscher.

Emeralds are elegant and always in style— a classic. Unfortunately I have found I need more fire and sparkle than they provide.

I think they are having a bit of moment, like pears did 5 years ago or so. Who remembers the last wave of asscher madness when Ryan Philippee gave one to Reese Weatherspoon? I think that was probably the first one I ever saw.

Interesting… I’d thought they have similar flash pattern…

I am a lover of step cuts, however, I prefer ECs in diamonds, and have 2 EC rings as RHRs.

I have Asschers and square shaped stones in coloured stones.

DK :))
